Quote me is a sub-contest within the time frame of CEE Spring (21 March – 31 May 2026) aimed at adding quotations from prominent people, books, films and proverbs from the region of Central and Eastern Europe to Wikiquote.

Guide for participants

Eligibility

All interested editors with a Wikimedia account can participate in this sub-contest, but only those contributing to Wikiquote in one of the eligible languages can win a prize. The list of eligible languages includes all main and additional languages in the CEE region (see the list of CEE languages), as well as the languages primarily spoken within communities in the adjacent regions that are closely associated with the CEE region (Persian, Uzbek, Tajik, Karakalpak, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Sakha and Tyvan).

Scope

Participants can add quotations to articles that document:

• persons hailing from the regions of Central and Eastern Europe as well as from the adjacent regions (Central Asia and Iran)

• persons whose quotations were one of the languages in the CEE region or one of the languages primarily spoken within communities in the adjacent regions (Persian, Uzbek, Tajik, Karakalpak, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Sakha and Tyvan)

• Examples: Friedrich Nietzsche, Milan Kundera, Rumi.

• books written by persons hailing from the region of Central and Eastern Europe as well as from the adjacent regions (Central Asia and Iran)

• books written in one of the languages in the CEE region or one of the languages primarily spoken within communities in the adjacent regions (Persian, Uzbek, Tajik, Karakalpak, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Sakha and Tyvan)

• Examples: Ephesian Tale, Kvachi Kvachantiradze, Lolita.

• films originating from the region of Central and Eastern Europe as well as from the adjacent regions (Central Asia and Iran)

• films with a script in one of the languages in the CEE region or one of the languages primarily spoken within communities in the adjacent regions (Persian, Uzbek, Tajik, Karakalpak, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Sakha and Tyvan)

• Examples: Stalker (1979 film), Three Colors: Blue, Anora.

• proverbs in one of the languages in the CEE region or one of the languages primarily spoken within communities in the adjacent regions (Persian, Uzbek, Tajik, Karakalpak, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Sakha and Tyvan)

• Examples: Armenian proverbs, Polish proverbs, Romanian proverbs.

Note: For the sake of consistency, all examples are from the English Wikiquote, but contributing to this project is not within the scope of this sub-contest.

Article submissions

Participants must add the hashtag #Quoteme in the edit summary of all newly created or improved articles.

Awards

International prizes

The ten most prolific participants will be awarded vouchers from Amazon in the following amounts:

• 1st prize: a voucher worth €50
• 2nd prize: a voucher worth €40
• 3rd prize: a voucher worth €30
• 4th prize: a voucher worth €20
• 5th-10th prize: a voucher worth €10

Only participants with at least 25 articles are eligible for prizes.
