The Worlds of Wikimedia 2022 is a local conference of Wikimedia Foundation held in Sydney, Australia on 17–18 November 2022.

The Wikimedia Community User Group Malaysia was represented by:

WOW 2022 was the first time for the said representatives to come and also the first time for any representative from the Malaysia user group.

Highlights

  • Presentation by Graham - He is a disabled person with sight problems. He contributed to Wikipedia by listening to words and fix it. Almost 750 words per minute. He explained why the vandalism occur : boredness. He also stated that new inventions challenges blind people to navigate and hope for much accessible captcha for blind people. He also participated in Soundlogo, more than 3,000 logo.
  • Rosie Stephenson talk on Wikiproject Women in Red in "Diversity, Diasporas & Digitality" session. They have already did 5 events. She suggested to choose something annual events; Climate and etc. She also suggested to do geographical focus. It was incredible that all their works was not funded, all is supported by their own.
  • Richard present on "Last Great Place On The Internet". Present patronizing time based on the data he'd researched and also stated where Wikipedia feels amazing and where it breaks down. He also emphasizes on humility and imitations happens in Wikipedia.
  • Amanda Lawrence (Research fellow in Wikipedia in Residence) & Brigid Van Wanrooy present on "Wikimedia and the multisector evidence ecosystem". They also emphasize on requirements of reliable sources and the requirements for medically related articles, also the role of grey literature. There is also discussion on the Analysis & Policy Observatory (APO) repository and how its exploitability.
  • Rachel Cunneen & Mathieu O'Neil present on "Use of Wikipedia as a fact checking tool in ACT public school". They designed Wikipedia as an online literacy curriculum material for (ACT) primary students.

Improvements

  • The time was too early, I had to rush in to get breakfast and walk to conference place which is a bit far in distance and could be tiring for people with older age
