PARTICIPATION AT EAST AFRICA REGION LEVEL[edit]

  • Wikimedia Tanzania has been actively participating in collaborating with its fellow community members from east Africa and Neighboring countries to bring unity interms of working together to implement WMF related projects. One of the key success is that we have helped in establishing a good relationship an communication between the communites in the region. In July 2021 we organized Wikimania pre conference that was expected to happen in Tanzania (under Wikimania Scholarship-it didn't happen), however we were advised by the Conferences team to apply similar projects in future under the Conference grants. Hence we are looking forward to collaborate with our nearby affiliates to bring the sense of Regional hub collaboration.
  • Currently we were allowed to still apply for our fellow community members who want to attend Wikimania 2021 virtually, we have already applied for the scholarship after the interested communities within East Africa region and neighboring countries sent us their budgets.
  • Moreover, we have been working closely to support other communities (who seeked)/seeking our support in different ways such as capacity building. Also Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda has been taking a lead to propel the discussions around East Africa priorities and Regional hub discussions.

CONCLUSIONː[edit]

  • Wikimedia Tanzania is still working to expand more the level of its participation on Wikimedia Foundation projects, one of the ongoing plan is shifting from raoid grants to Annual pla grants so that more activities can be organized and the level of peoples participation can increase.
  • We sincerly that the Wikimedia Foundation altogether with its staff members for being such supportive and helpful towards bringing the achievements indicated above.
  • Wikimedia Tanzania thanks all other Wiki communities and Individuals who worked closely and actively to ensure the Wikimedia Movent thrives forward. Hence we use this chance to invite more communities to collaborate with us in other activities that are coming in future.
