Introduction

[edit]

Importance of Museums

[edit]

Museums are custodians of culture, heritage, and identity. They serve as dynamic spaces for learning, historical preservation, and community engagement. In Uganda, museums play a crucial role in safeguarding indigenous knowledge, showcasing diverse traditions, and promoting tourism and education. Enhancing their visibility and accessibility is vital for empowering communities and preserving national heritage.

Current Museum Landscape in Uganda

[edit]

Despite their cultural significance, many museums in Uganda especially community and privately managed ones remain undocumented or underrepresented in digital platforms. A lack of comprehensive data on their location, exhibitions, and impact poses challenges for cultural preservation, tourism promotion, and educational integration.
