Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda/ Women in Wikisource

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Women in Wikisource is an initiative that aims to promote inclusion on the Wikisource platform. The initiative focuses on increasing the participation of females in Wikisource, improving the diversity of content and providing training and support for women editors.

Scope and duration

[edit]

Women in Wikisource will take place during the months of March to April 2025. The sessions will be in-person though some guest presenters will present online.

Objectives

[edit]
  1. Recruit new female editors and introduce existing editors to Wikisource
  2. Increase women's participation in Wikisource through proofreading, transcribing and validating hence decreasing the gender gap
  3. Provide technical training, on-going support and mentorship to new and existing female editors with a focus on female literary works
[edit]

Our activities will be tracked through the Wikisource contest board (follow this link here)
