We are a dedicated collective of individuals located on the beautiful island of Zanzibar, united by a shared enthusiasm for the Wikimedia movement. Our mission is to empower our community by fostering the creation and dissemination of free knowledge.
From organizing edit-a-thons to documenting Zanzibar's rich culture and history on Wikipedia and its sister projects, we are committed to building a stronger, more informed, and digitally engaged Zanzibar.
Objectives
[edit]- Expand and empower the Wikimedia Community in Zanzibar, ensuring strong local representation in Movement decisions.
- Utilize Wikimedia's educational programs to enhance learning in Zanzibari schools, universities, and institutions.
- Collaborate with global affiliates to implement the Wikimedia 2030 strategy and other key initiatives.
- Invest in continuous capacity building for all our members, enhancing their skills and contributions.
- Organize engaging events (workshops, conferences, contests) to build member capacity and skills.
- Actively recruit and train newcomers.
