Community Wishlist Survey

Hi everyone!

We're beginning the second part of the Community Tech team's Community Wishlist Survey, and we're inviting all active contributors to vote on the proposals that have been submitted.

Thanks to you and other Wikimedia contributors, 111 proposals were submitted to the team. We've split the proposals into categories, and now it's time to vote! You can vote for any proposal listed on the pages, using the {{Support}} tag. Feel free to add comments pro or con, but only support votes will be counted. The voting period will be 2 weeks, ending on December 14.

The proposals with the most support votes will be the team's top priority backlog to investigate and address. Thank you for participating, and we're looking forward to hearing what you think!

From earlier on #wikimedia-tech:

16.46 < bblack> Zhaofeng_Li: the 4x datacenter names are eqiad, ulsfo, codfw, esams, and the primary wiki services would be accessible at the IP addresses for the 4 hostnames you can make from that as: text-lb.<datacenter>.wikimedia.org just keep in mind that that's all considered internal detail subject to change the text-lb hostnames or the IPs they resolve to aren't public contracts. All that's gauranteed is that whatever IP you get. you could also resolve those names as IPv6 and see if things are different for v6 than v4
16.48 < bblack> Zhaofeng_Li: keep in mind those IPs are just for the wikis though (as in XX.wikipedia.org, and ditto for projects like wikibooks, wikiquote, etc). upload.wikimedia.org is separate, and uses a similar scheme, but "upload-lb" instead of "text-lb" (for all the common embedded images)

Someone should make a spam remover bot

We need someone to make a spam remover bot to get rid of spam quickly. We have spam problems all the time and this page is not supposed to be protected. Username Violation 17:15, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

What is the difference between a bot removing a spam than a normal user removing a spam from this page? If we remove spam within few seconds or few minutes, isn't it fast enough? And what has it to do with protecting? A spam remover bot can't do anything for spammers before than they post their spam here. --Stryn (talk) 17:24, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, we're almost bots, specially Tegel :-) Syum90 (talk) 17:38, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
We have the Gr,Gs,Stewards and swmt as well that can easily do the job. And a rollbacker has to be a person, not a bot. Agreed with others ." Unregistered and non confirmed users should have a place to come to if they need help. Wikimedia Forum is the right place. If we protect this page so only autoconfirmed users can edit it, we're shutting them out. Not all IPs and non confirmed users are vandals right? The only thing we can do is to continue to revert vandalism and nonsense on this page IMHO." --Grind24 (talk) 18:36, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
Looks like a bot isn't needed here in this case. A correction to Grind's comment, a rollbacker can be a bot, see ClueBot NG, a vandalism reverting bot on enwiki. And umm... thanks for almost copying word for word what I told you last week. eurodyne (talk) 18:43, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
:) Hmm but I don't mean a bot can't be a rollbacker. See Salebot on fr.wikip and pt.wikip. --Grind24 (talk) 19:10, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

I've made a great number of proposals over the decade plus..

.. I've been producing (and not deleting) content, all of it searchable. Can anyone guess how many of these ideas are hoarded by the NSA (ennesei, the loyal state religionists of West Euro pennyroyal), and how many they use on their live wiki(s)?

Project proposals
  • Wikis for large global-city metropolitan areas (
  • Neologisms (protologisms) online,
  • Public questions and answers, (replace commercialistic "options")
  • Wiki on the Common language(s), (language freedom),
  • British English encyclopedia (get your "-aedia" on, lands and titles too)
  • Online code wiki, .. more.
  • LessExpensiveHats.mil, a clearing house for the Freedom forter in outand
  • Common Law wiki,
  • Frag-up applet, appd and OTPs for public upreport.
  • More tabs for more special pages (modes) in standard interface, for chat (up to eight channels), topical forum (up to fifty, at first), annotations page for each, talk page for each article, annotations page for each talk page. Personal page side: userpages, private notes, messaging. Suggestion of editor namespace withheld, to be adjudicated openly, not accepted if not open representing individual or from clandestine group. "Group" is suggested as namespace prefix, as is "project" (see discussions with Tim).
  • More wikis.
    • works.wikipedia.org for building, making, engineering (logicraft), planning, ideas related..
    • more coming from SPOC (Ocuana/Cooney) --SV (talk) 23:43, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
    • POS linguistics interface for translate engine(s), (aka Alphabet.abc's Gtranslate).

-23:43, 6 December 2015 (UTC) PS: Support my bid for President of the USA, and my lawsuit to get the court documents from Wikimedia vs. NSA (for further excess litigation for sake of less litigation..). -S Paul Cooney | Stevertigo (talk) 15:55, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

This is an update from the Wikimedia Affiliations Committee. Translations are available.

The Affiliations Committee – the committee responsible for guiding volunteers in establishing Wikimedia chapters, thematic organizations, and user groups – is looking for new members!

The main role of the Affiliations Committee is to guide groups of volunteers that are interested in forming Wikimedia affiliates. We review applications from new groups, answer questions and provide advice about the different Wikimedia affiliation models and processes, review affiliate bylaws for compliance with requirements and best practices, and advise the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees on issues connected to chapters, thematic organizations and Wikimedia user groups.

The committee consists of twelve members, six of whom are selected every twelve months for staggered two-year terms.

Key skills

Being a part of the Affiliations Committee requires communication with volunteers all over the world, negotiating skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to understand legal texts. We try to get a healthy mix of different skill sets in our members. The key skills and experience that we look for in candidates are:

  • Excitement by the challenge of helping to empower groups of volunteers worldwide.
  • Willingness to process applications through a set, perhaps bureaucratic process.
  • Readiness to participate in political discussions on the role and future of affiliates, models of affiliations, and similar questions.
  • Availability of up to 5 hours per week, and the time to participate in a monthly ~2 hour voice/video meeting.
  • International orientation.
  • Very good communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work and communicate with other languages and cultures.
  • Strong understanding of the structure and work of affiliates and the WMF.
  • Knowledge of different legal systems and experience in community building and organising are a plus.
  • Effective communication skills in other languages are a major plus.
  • Experience with or in an active affiliate is a major plus.
  • Willingness to use one's real name in committee activities (including contacts with current and potential affiliates) when appropriate.

We are looking for people who are not afraid of the workload and are motivated by helping other volunteers to get organized and form communities that further our mission around the world.

Selection process

As a reflection of our commitment to openness, transparency, and bilateral engagement with the Wikimedia community, the 2015 member selection process will include a public review and comment period. All applications received by the committee will be posted on Meta (at Affiliations Committee/Candidates/2015), and the community will be invited to provide comments and feedback about each candidate.

At the end of the public comment period, the applications will be voted on by the members of the committee who are not seeking re-election, taking into account comments put forward by the committee's members, advisors, WMF staff and board liaisons, and the community. A final decision will be made by mid-January 2016, with new members expected to join later that month.

How to apply

If you are interested in joining the committee, please send an application to affcom@lists.wikimedia.org by 31 December 2015. You will get a confirmation that your application was received.

Your application should include the following:

  • Your full name
  • Your contact information (including e-mail address and username)
  • A statement describing your relevant experience, skills, and motivation for joining the committee.

Your statement will be published for community review and feedback, so please do not include any information that you are not comfortable sharing.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me and/or the committee as a whole. We are happy to chat or have a phone call with anyone about our work if this helps them decide to apply. Please distribute this call among your networks, and do apply if you are interested!

Best regards,
Carlos Colina
Chair, Affiliations Committee

RFC on password strength requirements

Hi everyone, I want to start an RFC on increasing password strength requirements for users who can edit JS files. I'd appreciate everyone's comments at Requests for comment/Password policy for users with certain advanced permissions.

Additionally, I'd like to notify all the communities (as this affects all of them). I'm not very familiar around mass message. I started a draft of a mass message at Requests for comment/Password policy for users with certain advanced permissions/massmessage. Is the normal procedure to give some time to allow translators to translate that before sending it out to everyone? I'd appreciate any guidance on best practices for notifying people about this sort of thing. Thanks BWolff (WMF) (talk) 09:33, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi, BWolff (WMF)! Yes, we usually give some time for our translators, then we send. I just made it available for translation and notified translaters. Let's give it a weak :) --Ochilov (talk) 11:43, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello stewards

Can you cek my report at This ? Because map-bms.wikipedia.org, the board is no longer active, I would like to replace bureaucrats there. Thanks very much Arifys 12:03, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi Arifys, please post all permission requests at Steward requests/Permissions. Also note that we do not give bureaucrat access without a community vote with a large community involvement. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 12:50, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

(I wrote about it. But there was no reaction ?! The reason I am writing again. Please avoid vandalism.)

User:sefer azeri' is engaged in vandalism: 1 (Reliable sources wiped out.), 2 (Without any major wiped out the picture., , ) , 3 (Fraud. Map changed. 100 years have reduced the state's history.), 4 (Insult.)... Requires block it for at least a year. But it was never punished for their work. Sortilegus always supported him. He is also engaged in vandalism: 1 (Reliable sources wiped out), 2 (The name of the state, has been removed.), 3 (Reliable sources wiped out)... Wertuose always supported him. He is also engaged in vandalism: 1 (Picture of the article - az:Bakı xan sarayı), is deleted.. 2 (insult; Əxlaqsız ifadələrə görə...) and 3. The 3 users blocked me, without any reason! We do not have arbitration and appellate courts. Therefore, administrators dictator. No one can give me an answer?! To whom should I complain? Perhaps now would be the reaction?. -Idin Mammadof talk 08:24, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Aydinsalis, this is the wrong place to ask. The only people who could intervene are the stewards but the might be unable to do so if the wiki has other active admins/bureaucrats or dispute resolution channels. If you have been left no other option (and I really mean "no other option"), then you could try asking at the Stewards' noticeboard, but make sure you read the notice at the top. Green Giant (talk) 17:40, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Per Green Giant, you can left that RfC on Stewards Noticeboard.--AldNonymousBicara? 19:21, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much. -Idin Mammadof talk 18:15, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Aldnonymous and Green Giant, I wrote. There is no reaction. But then what do I do? -Idin Mammadof talk 10:03, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

Vandalism continues... and vandalism continues...!!! Ladies and Gentlemen !!! How long the vandals, remain unpunished ?! How long the vandals, the administrator will be ?! --Idin Mammadof (talk) 21:55, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

In these edit the person says "deleted due to copyright infringement"[1][2]. Were these images copied and pasted from another source? Or were they taken by you personally? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:34, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

It belongs to me. They are stored in my personal library. There is no copyright infringement. They have been removed without any reason. They removed without discussion. Also, this page also deleted. Thanks. --Idin Mammadof (talk) 20:55, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Did you make the image yourself? Please note that simply owning a copy of an image is not the same as owning the copyright of an image. Green Giant (talk) 21:02, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
There is no problem. I am the author. Documents belongs to me. I am the author of photos. --Idin Mammadof (talk) 22:07, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Can you email the image in question as I am unable to see it? Also you said that you took the picture with your own camera? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 09:56, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I photographed their own picture. Web pages belonging to me, these photos are available: 1, 2 Thanks. --Idin Mammadof (talk) 10:18, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

So this was published in 1933 [3] You do not own the content in question but it should be in the public domain as it is so old. This document is from 1993 [4] Unless that is your signature on the bottom you do not own it. The person who wrote the document or the government owns it. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 11:23, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

As I said and you acknowledge, there is no copyright infringement: 1. That is the official document (Letter of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.)), according to our laws, in the public domain. I am the author of photos. --Idin Mammadof (talk) 8:08, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Agree the first one appears okay. But were does it say government documents are public domain? I do not see it here [5] Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 12:29, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

You see through autotranslator. --Idin Mammadof (talk) 12:37, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

I found: Article 7. Objects not covered by copyright protection, (page 15). --Idin Mammadof (talk) 12:45, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Yes that indeed says state documents are not covered by copyright. Have requested the deleting admin comment here [6] Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 12:56, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. For it have requested the deleting admin comment here. No results. Is there another way to solve the problem? Vandals will not be punished? --Idin Mammadof (talk) 13:10, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
We need to give them some time to respond. Also they are not a "vandal". They are deleting stuff as they see it as a copyright infringement. I am waiting to hear their side of the story. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:14, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
This is not the first time? I can show 100 cases. They will not let me in the Azerbaijani Wikipedia, as well as other users. --Idin Mammadof (talk) 13:28, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
So far, there was no discussion. Now I began. Articles must be restored first. But I still have not recovered, only 1 article has been restored. In this article, the photo has not been restored yet: [16].--Idin Mammadof (talk) 17:26, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Okay yes I see that. Will give the admin more time to response. Can you provide a link to the discussion that resulted in your ban? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 18:06, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. "Can you provide a link to the discussion that resulted in your ban?" - I did not understand, you want to know the reason for this? I have not breached any rules. --Idin Mammadof (talk) 18:17, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
I am wondering if their was a discussion that resulted in your ban. And if so can you post it. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 18:26, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
I created this article. Protested. But they could not delete the article. They blocked me. They are a group. Receive a salary from the state. They do not allow us to. --Idin Mammadof (talk) 18:38, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Content that meets at least one of the criteria for speedy deletion (Müzakirə edilmədən silinən məqalələr):
    • Advertising or other spam without any relevant or encyclopedic content (Reklam və spam xarakterli məqalələr);
    • Blank pages (Information pages are not). (Boş məqalələr (çox qısa və heç bir informasiya daşımayan məqalələr (məsələn, Filankəs - rejissor)) (Ən sadə məzmun qaydası: Məqalə başlıqdan və bu başlığı çox sadə şəkildə də olsa ifadə edən ən azı bir cümlədən ibarət olmalıdır.));
    • Vandalism, including inflammatory redirects, pages that exist only to disparage their subject, patent nonsense, or gibberish (Vandalizm nəticəsində yaradılmış məqalələr);
    • Misspell the name of the article. For example ( az:Fizuli instead of, az:Fizuli) (Məqalə başlığı səhv yazılmış yönləndirilən məqalələr (məsələn, Fizuli));
    • Written on the same subject, if another article (Eyni və ya çox yaxın məzmuna malik başqa məqalənin mövcud olması);
    • Articles that cannot possibly be attributed to reliable sources, including neologisms, original theories and conclusions, and articles that are themselves hoaxes (Məzmunu mötəbər mənbələrlə əsaslandırılması mümkün olmayan məqalələr, o cümlədən istifadəçilərin mənbələrə əsaslanmayan özfəaliyyəti);
    • Articles in other languages (Digər dillərdə yazılmış məqalələr).

Under these rules, the articles can not be deleted: [17], [18], [19].

In addition, I would like to mention:

Deleted articles have already been restored:az:Söhrab Arabov, az:Rövzət Dəmirçizadə, az:Məhyəddin Abbasov, az:Nəsib Muxtarov (arxeoloq). But now the deletion is discussed. No reason given. These pages will not edit anonymous az:Vikipediya:Kənd meydanı, az:Vikipediya:İdarəçilərə müraciət, az:Vikipediya:Silinməyə namizəd səhifələr, az:Nuxa qalası, az:Nuxa qəzası, az:Şəki dövləti. They want to be I could not edit anonymous, and I could not have to complain. So I can not complain that they want to lock me global. For this nachili private discussions. The same individuals: User:Wertuose, User:Sortilegus, User:sefer azeri. But not yet found any reason not bud. If they though an appeal to the Steward, let them come here. If they are right, what are afraid?! --Idin Mammadof (talk) 15:20, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
The vandalism continues. Again, the pictures are deleted without discussion ([25], [26] They belong to the opposition. For this reason deleted.). Some, after being restored. But some still have not been recovered ( [27] ). Worst of all is that such things happen regularly. We are angry, we are wasting our time, but it is happening again. All intellectuals went out. How long this situation will last? Please help. --Idin Mammadof (talk) 13:16, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Sefer azeri yesterday pleaded with me unjustly block. Sefer azeri recently had 6 articles indisputably clear. Because he had created Aydinsalis substances. Hasan that when the complainant had brought back again the other administrators Article 2 of them. Then Aydinsalis 4 article "deletion candidate pages" pulled pane debate. That there is a debate as it is written in the pages it may take up to 15 days. 4 article that has opened the debate over the 15 days after the idea had reported only four people in the discussion. 20 days after the start of the debate. Sefer azeri and Keete 37 makes it nearly always the same review to any discussion of an argument, are deleted without reason and the principles he commented. Sefer azeri immediately "deleted unanimously decided to say" that archive discussion.[28] I took back the debate from the archive "this election is not the place," I said. "We're doing this in the election here, you" was decided unanimously "to say the debate concludes," I said. "Secondly not finish first in this debate, because I said you are neutral in this debate." You're the delete Articles "I said." The decision you should not give any manager, "I said.[29] Sefer azeri blocks show the grounds that I did vandalism pleaded with.--Samral (talk) 06:05, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
I blocked 10 times. 9 Sefer azeri did. Is it coincidence that so? I appeal to all administrators [30]. None of them did not answer. It's not just me. Many users refer pleaded with him to receive the status administration [31], [32], . But almost none received no reply.--Samral (talk) 06:08, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
  • Dear META. They violated general principles of Wikipedia, and it is constantly going on. Vandalism is legal, and you do nothing? I still have to wait? Is it true that you never look at my complaint? I want to believe that you will defend the principles of Wikipedia, albeit belatedly. --Idin Mammadof 9:39, 23 September 2015 2015 (UTC)
The users also blocked indefinitely. Without any reason: [34], [35], [36] --Idin Mammadof 16:55, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.

As many of you know, January 15 is Wikipedia’s 15th Birthday!

People around the world are getting involved in the celebration and have started adding their events on Meta Page. While we are celebrating Wikipedia's birthday, we hope that all projects and affiliates will be able to utilize this celebration to raise awareness of our community's efforts.

Haven’t started planning? Don’t worry, there’s lots of ways to get involved. Here are some ideas:

Everything is linked on the Wikipedia 15 Meta page. You’ll find a set of ten data visualization works that you can show at your events, and a list of all the Wikipedia 15 logos that community members have already designed.

If you have any questions, please contact Zachary McCune or Joe Sutherland.

Thanks and Happy nearly Wikipedia 15!

What IdeaLab campaigns do you want to see?

Hey folks. I’m seeking your help to decide on topics for new IdeaLab campaigns that could be run starting next year. These campaigns are designed to attract proposals from Wikimedia project contributors that address a broad gap or area of need in Wikimedia projects.

Here’s how to participate:

With thanks,

Search: Completion Suggester

Search box as-is
Completion suggester

In the continued quest to make the search bar a better tool, the Wikimedia Foundation's Discovery department is putting a completion suggester into Beta Features. The tool functions with search-as-you-type, with a small tolerance for typos and spacing in finding results. Possible matches are then displayed as you type in a drop down menu, hopefully eliminating the need to perform a fulltext search with landing page and all. You can read more details at mediawiki.org and use the talk page for now for feedback.

The tool is now available and will only be enabled for the article namespace for now, and will progress into full production at some point hopefully in early 2016, depending on feedback. At this time the use-case for completion suggester is highly geared towards simplicity for all users and as a regular editor myself I am aware of the limitations of only having the search work in the article space. Because of this, it's going to be important to get feedback from regular contributors who use search to make sure that any of the basic feature requests for searching the main space can at least be addressed while in Beta Features.

An announcement about Completion Suggester is available for translation at next week's Tech News.

Thanks for your time, I look forward to your feedback. Keegan (WMF) (talk) 00:52, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Help!

Is there anyone to help me correct information on page, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front-side_bus? The information on Itanium and Itanium 2 is faked and false! Sir.Mot (talk) 23:56, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

@Sir.Mot: I fear this is the wrong forum for this. Though, feel free to leave a message at Talk:Front-side bus, outlining your suggestions on how you think the content could be improved. Thanks, --Vogone (talk) 00:28, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
@Vogone:, I do fear that I could not! Because I was blocked there for the reason of sockpuppet of someone innocent! But I leave you a site, https://communities.intel.com/message/342823, where it has enough source to prove information on that page is faked and false. If you think it worth, then change it! Or else let those faked information stay there to mislead other innocent readers, eventually make them lose the faith in Wikimedia too! I've also corrected other faked information, using other user accounts, but now blocked as sockpuppet too. I do fear Wikipedia.org on computer science might fall down some a day in the future! Sorry! Wikimania 2016: call for proposals is open!

Dear Wikimedians,
the call for proposals for Wikimania 2016 is open! All the members of the Wikimedia projects, researchers and observers are invited to propose a critical issue to be included in the programme of the conference, which will be held in Italy, in Esino Lario, from June 21 to 28.
Through this call we only accept what we call critical issues, i.e. proposals aiming at presenting problems, possible solutions and critical analysis about Wikimedia projects and activities in 18 minutes. These proposals do not need to target newbies, and they can assume attendees to already have a background knowledge on a topic (community, tech, outreach, policies...).
To submit a presentation, please refer to the Submissions page on the Wikimania 2016 website. Deadline for submitting proposals is 7th January 2016 and the selection of these proposals will be through a blind peer-reviewed process. Looking forward to your proposals. --Yiyi (talk) 09:08, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

The 2015 Community Wishlist Survey is over, and now the Community Tech team's work begins on the top 10 features and fixes.

In November and December 2015, we invited contributors from all Wikimedia projects to submit proposals for what they would like the Community Tech team to work on, for the purpose of improving or producing curation and moderation tools for active contributors.

634 people participated in the survey, where they proposed, discussed and voted on 107 ideas. There was a two-week period in November to submit and endorse proposals, followed by two weeks of voting. The top 10 proposals with the most support votes now become the Community Tech team's backlog of projects to evaluate and address.

You can see the whole list with links to all the proposals and Phabricator tickets on this page: 2015 Community Wishlist Survey.

For everybody who proposed, endorsed, discussed, debated and voted in the survey, as well as everyone who said nice things to us recently: thank you very much for coming out and supporting live feature development. We're excited about the work ahead of us. -- DannyH (WMF) (talk) 21:11, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

2008 photos on a city page

The city I live in (Whitehorse, YT, Canada) has a page, but the photos are from 2008. Can I replace these with up to date photos? Or do I just add to them? Don't want page cluttered. Thanks,

@LizHargreaves: This page isn’t for discussing content of individual projects. Assuming you’re referring to the English Wikipedia article, best to start at its discussion page, or perhaps a relevant noticeboard elsewhere on enWP (some of which are linked in the box at the top of that page). But while you’re here, may I direct you to the city’s category on Commons, where you may find newer or better images—or if you have some of your own, which you’re prepared to release under a free licence, where you can categorize your uploads. In general, I’d say your concern about clutter is well founded, but bear in mind that recency is not the only consideration for replacing a photo: at least as important are the image quality and its specific relevance to the article text. Having said all that, do whatever you think will improve the article; if someone disagrees, discussion can follow. Feel free to drop me a line on enWP or Commons if you have any more questions.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 22:50, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

meta BiDi gadget and BiDi editing for global accounts

https://meta.wikimedia.org/?curid=140676#BiDi links here

Hi! Gadget BiDiEditing[ResourceLoader]|BiDiEditing.js is an old style gadget and does not work at other WMF projects if copied to the personal meta global.js page. Please help fixing this. It seams that the minor modification made at https://meta.wikimedia.org/?oldid=15118951# solves the problem. I do not know why it works and kindly ask you to confirm the "fix". Later @admins can correct/update the gadget. Here some links:

MediaWiki:Gadget-BiDiEditing.js wmf

There might be copies arround (at c:, at some language projects, at foundation and chapter wikis, at wikimania subdomains etc.). Please identify these and let a short note that they should be updated.
Thanks for your efforts in advance! Best regards Gangleri aka I18n (talk) 01:28, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

P.S. As I recall I addressed this issue in the #mediawiki IRC channel. I was told to look at the JavaScript console in my FF browser and there I have seen some error messages. Feel free to get the most actual information from the console. Regards Gangleri (talk) 18:00, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
Any news on this? I18n (talk) 19:18, 25 December 2015 (UTC)

Wikinews

The project has become almost dead. I don't know why people rely more on Wikipedia. Somehow, I guess many people are not meant to be journalists. I really want to spread the word, but I don't know which place I can centrally promote the Project. --George Ho (talk) 22:28, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

Pagina Venus Castina!

Concluo, apresentando meus agradecimentos e respeitos.

I have been asked to donate 3 dollars, I have 300 dollare to donate however I only donate to friends. Clearly Wikimedia is slow in waking up at "SaveNatureFREE" our help is assured to our friends only. Is it any wonder why we get a desperate request for 3 dollars when we look up a word?
