Goal delivery
What is the affiliate mission? Through the initiatives and activities, we seek to empower Swahili speakers and learners across the globe by offering free access to trustworthy information and promoting a cooperative environment for the creation and sharing of knowledge.
What are the affiliate goals? Link to the strategic plan, if there is one. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where everyone can become a participating member of Wikipedia projects. This will help in informing other groups about our presence. Not just knowing, but also being part of the participants spreading free knowledge in the digital world
Organizational development
How does the affiliate make decisions? How are decisions communicated? The executive board proposes a suggestion, which is then shared in the WhatsApp discussion group. Members contribute to the relevant topic. Decisions are made instantly within the group, with full participation from everyone.
What is the current state of the affiliate finances? Link to the latest financial report, if there is one. Our group received funding from the General Support Fund in June 2025. We've just held our first event. The financial situation is stable since we've only recently begun receiving the grant.

How many people participate in the decision-making process in the affiliate? 4
Has there been any significant changes in the level of the affiliate membership body (e.g. increase/decrease of number of dues-paying members)? 5 members joined.
Are there any affiliate activities in the past year that were led by affiliate members? Please share the highlights. Our members held a Wikipedia workshop in July 2025, attended by 20 participants at SeedSpace Dar es Salaam.

Diverse, skilled, and accountable leadership
What kind of skills does the affiliate leadership possess? Our leadership strengths include strong communication, sharing Wikipedia knowledge with others, organizing workshops, and engaging members actively. We also promote advocacy within the community and maintain transparency in decision-making.
Is there any kind of succession plan for the affiliate leadership? Yes
Are there any trainings that affiliate leadership undergo before they assume their leadership position? Yes, our leaders are trained in crisis management, fiscal responsibility.
Are there any requirements for affiliate leadership to disclose their conflict(s) of interests? Yes. Members in leadership positions are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest to maintain transparency, trust, and fairness in decision-making.
Diversity balance (especially gender)
What is the diversity level of the affiliate leadership and membership body? Our leadership team is 50% female and 50% male. The wider membership is majority female, with approximately 65% women and 35% men.
How is the affiliate leadership encouraging gender diversity in the decision-making process(es) of the affiliate? Our affiliate leadership of two are both male, so we have a council of two female members we consult with in regards to decisions and equity.
Universal Code of Conduct compliance
How does the affiliate leadership ensure, enforce, and evaluate compliance with the Universal Code of Conduct obligations? We introduce new members to the UCoC through onboarding and shared resources. We have a clear process for reporting and handling violations.

What are the 3 (three) capacities that the affiliate would like to strengthen in the next 12 months? We aim to improve how we track and assess our programs—by setting clear goals, collecting data, and reporting results. Better evaluation will help us make informed decisions, show impact, and build trust with partners and funders.
Our affiliate aims to strengthen internal governance by clarifying leadership roles, improving decision-making transparency, and developing resource management policies. This will support smoother coordination, build trust, and make our structure more sustainable for future growth.
We aim to enhance contributors’ skills in areas like templates, bots, Lua, and Wikidata. Strengthening technical capacity will improve content quality, enable automation, and support innovation across our projects.
