Goal delivery
What is the affiliate mission? The Wikimedia and Libraries User Group (WLUG) brings together Wikipedians, librarians and information professionals who engage Wikipedia and related projects within library communities, including academic, public, special and private libraries worldwide
What are the affiliate goals? Link to the strategic plan, if there is one. The Wikimedia and Libraries User Group aspires
  • to meet other community leaders who work with libraries,
  • to form partnerships with allies,
  • to host events at institutions,
  • to conduct outreach to national organizations or regional and international groups and consortia.
Organizational development
How does the affiliate make decisions? How are decisions communicated? In 2024, the User Group has an elected steering committee of four members.
What is the current state of the affiliate finances? Link to the latest financial report, if there is one. N/A
Affiliate health and resilience
How many people participate in the decision-making process in the affiliate? User:Windblown29, User:Clifford Anderson, User:Orlysi, and User:AfricanLibrarian
Has there been any significant changes in the level of the affiliate membership body (e.g. increase/decrease of number of dues-paying members)? Our user group continues to grow year over year. We have gained 47 new members since July 1, 2024.
Are there any affiliate activities in the past year that were led by affiliate members? Please share the highlights. Our primary activity in 2024-2025 was hosting the Wikimedia+Libraries_International_Convention_2025 in Mexico City, Mexico.
Leadership and inclusion
Diverse, skilled, and accountable leadership
What kind of skills does the affiliate leadership possess? Affiliate leadership possess legacy administraction of the group as well as abilities for outreach on pertinent subjects and the ability

to conclude a successful global conference of members and like-minded participants.

Is there any kind of succession plan for the affiliate leadership? We held elections for a new steering committee in June 2025.
Are there any trainings that affiliate leadership undergo before they assume their leadership position? Not at this time, but there should be training to address and engage global participation in the areas pertinent to library and information work across the globe.
Are there any requirements for affiliate leadership to disclose their conflict(s) of interests? At this time, no. We expect the new steering committee to implement the COI for the group.
Diversity balance (especially gender)
What is the diversity level of the affiliate leadership and membership body? The steering committee is quite diverse with representation from North America, Africa, the Middle East.
How is the affiliate leadership encouraging gender diversity in the decision-making process(es) of the affiliate? We have not specifically addressed this issue.

How does the affiliate leadership ensure, enforce, and evaluate compliance with the Universal Code of Conduct obligations? We cite the UCC at all gatherings.

How many affiliate members are active contributors to the Wikimedia projects? Around 30 people were involved in organizing the Wikilibcon25 conference
How many affiliate members are not active contributors to the Wikimedia projects? N/A
How many affiliate members are active organizers (of projects, events, conferences, initiatives, etc) within the Wikimedia movement? Few dozens
How many people have participated in affiliate projects, events, conferences, and/or initiatives in the past year? ~486 WLUG members, ~330 scholarship applications for the conference, ~120 participants in the conference.

What are the organizations, community projects, or groups that the affiliate had been working or seeking to work with to develop and support the 3 capacities? We held user group elections in June 2024 and are currently onboarding seven new members (plus two previous members) of the Steering Committee with the assistance of Silvia Gutiérrez, Senior Program Officer, Libraries, Wikimedia Foundation.
