| Goal delivery | ||
| What is the affiliate mission? | Our mission is to: (1) Connect with and educate fellow North Carolinians about the value of Wikimedia projects, (2) Increase and improve Wikipedia coverage of currently underrepresented groups (with a scope not limited to North Carolina-related topics), (3) Support the integration of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Commons into K-12 and university instruction, and (4) Serve as a regional base of organizing, strategizing, and decision-making for the global Wikimedia movement. | |
| What are the affiliate goals? Link to the strategic plan, if there is one. | Organize regular meetups and events to keep the local Wikimedia community active, engaged and connected | |

| Is there any kind of succession plan for the affiliate leadership? | No | |
| Are there any trainings that affiliate leadership undergo before they assume their leadership position? | No | |
| Are there any requirements for affiliate leadership to disclose their conflict(s) of interests? | No | |
Diversity balance (especially gender)
| ||
| What is the diversity level of the affiliate leadership and membership body? | Our priority is to try to get more people to join our group, primarily by connecting with people who are interested in Wikimedia projects at events we host in the community, and inviting them to become more involved in the group, e.g. attending some of our monthly meetings. We see this as the path to bringing in more diverse active members, who could eventually become additional Core members. This would also make our group more resilient. So far this strategy has been successful at drawing diverse audiences: Our most recent in-person event, in March 2026, attracted 30 people, with a great deal of gender, age, background, racial, and ethnic diversity. The majority of the attendees signed up for our newsletter; it is too early to tell how much that will translate to regular attendance at our monthly meetings. | |
| How is the affiliate leadership encouraging gender diversity in the decision-making process(es) of the affiliate? | Too small to tell: decisions are made by the three Core members (2 male, 1 female, 1 POC) as well as any members who are attending a meeting. | |
Universal Code of Conduct compliance
| ||
| How does the affiliate leadership ensure, enforce, and evaluate compliance with the Universal Code of Conduct obligations? | None at the moment, but we plan to incorporate this into our monthly meetings going forward. The core team agrees that we are fortunate not to have had any issues with violations of the Code, but we also know that trusting that trend to continue is not an optimal strategy. | |
| Engagement and Collaboration | ||
| Please share the publicly available records of regular meetings, activities, events, or conference in the past year where the affiliate has participated. | North Carolina Wikipedians/Monthly-Meeting/2026 North Carolina Wikipedians/Monthly-Meeting/2025 | |

| How many people have participated in affiliate projects, events, conferences, and/or initiatives in the past year? | We had significant participation at our Wikipedia Day event (30ish people) and Country Music Editathon 2026 events (30 participants).
