| Goal delivery | ||
| What is the affiliate mission? | Providing the general public and editors new and old in the Los Angeles area a place to meet up, learn more about Wiki, and contribute to free knowledge online. | |
| What are the affiliate goals? Link to the strategic plan, if there is one. | The Wikimedians of Los Angeles (WikiLA) user group is dedicated to building a community of Wikimedians in the greater Los Angeles area, increasing the total number of Wikipedia editors, expanding public awareness of movement goals and objectives, bringing knowledge from cultural and academic institutions onto Wikipedia, increasing coverage of Southern California-related articles, adding images to commons, and increasing the depth and breadth of coverage across whatever Wiki projects our members are interested in. | |
| Organizational development | ||
| How does the affiliate make decisions? How are decisions communicated? | We have a group of people that organize and make decisions via Discord/text/email/etc. Anyone interested is free to join us and help organize. | |
| What is the current state of the affiliate finances? Link to the latest financial report, if there is one. | We do not have any dedicated finances but did recieve a Rapid Grant. | |
Affiliate health and resilience
| ||
| How many people participate in the decision-making process in the affiliate? | Roughly three, but we run most decisions regarding upcoming events by the general membership. | |
| Has there been any significant changes in the level of the affiliate membership body (e.g. increase/decrease of number of dues-paying members)? | We currently charge no dues. Our membership is increasing due to an increased number of events held roughly every other month. | |
| Are there any affiliate activities in the past year that were led by affiliate members? Please share the highlights. | The highlight of our year so far was a series of edit-a-thons to cover articles related to the devastating wildfires in Southern California earlier this year. This attracted a large number of editors, both new and experienced, and received national media coverage. See our group page on meta for a full list of events. | |
| Leadership and inclusion | ||
Diverse, skilled, and accountable leadership
| ||
| What kind of skills does the affiliate leadership possess? | Leaders are personable, approachable and responsible. | |
| Is there any kind of succession plan for the affiliate leadership? | We currently have a small leadership team with no official process to become one. Therefore we have no official succession plan. | |
| Are there any trainings that affiliate leadership undergo before they assume their leadership position? | None | |
| Are there any requirements for affiliate leadership to disclose their conflict(s) of interests? | Not beyond what is normally expected on-wiki. COI has not been a significant issue for this group and we do not oversee money outside of our rapid grant. | |
Diversity balance (especially gender)
| ||
| What is the diversity level of the affiliate leadership and membership body? | We represent a selection of our members and people within the Los Angeles area. Our primary leadership team of three is varied in both race and gender. All are welcome to join our leadership team. | |
