El 2.º Encuentro con la Comunidad en Castellano se efectuará como parte de la convocatoria para recibir comentarios sobre los puestos en la junta directiva de la Fundación Wikimedia que se lleva hasta el 14 de marzo, véase el reporte del primer encuentro.

El objetivo de este encuentro será aclarar dudas sobre el proceso y fomentar el debate alrededor de las diferentes ideas y sugerencias discutidas hasta el momento, con especial atención a las siguientes tópicos

  • Diversidad regional
  • Competencias para el trabajo en la junta directiva
  • Apoyo a los candidatos
  • Relación junta directiva - Consejo Global - Hubs Regionales

El encuentro tendrá una duración una hora el día domingo 7 de marzo a las 16:00 UTC (otras zonas horarias) por Google Meet, además, se contará al menos una persona de la junta directiva que ayudará a aclarar dudas y comentarios con respecto al proceso.

Todos los participantes se comprometen a respetar la política de espacio amigable para los eventos de Wikimedia.

Logística[edit]

Cómo participar[edit]

  • Usaremos la plataforma de Google Meet. Se aceptan invitados registrados y anónimos.
  • Compartiremos el enlace 15 minutos antes del inicio de la reunión. Si puedes, únete temprano.

Durante la reunión[edit]

  • Por favor, silencia el micrófono cuando no estés hablando.
  • Si quieres hacer una pregunta, levanta la mano y espera a que llegue tu turno.
  • Mantén tus preguntas cortas y sobre el tema de la convocatoria.
  • Puedes utilizar el chat, pero ten en cuenta que las conversaciones paralelas no te distraigan.
  • No te preocupes por las notificaciones de los que llegan tarde y solicitan acceso. Los organizadores las aprobarán.
  • Las reuniones se grabarán.
  • Espera una moderación básica para el turno de preguntas y silenciar el ruido.
  • Espera una moderación rápida si alguien interrumpe la sala (el enlace es público, cualquiera puede unirse de forma anónima)

General comments[edit]

  • One volunteer commented that there is a tendency in this movement to always look for the perfect procedure, which is something that does not exist. In the meantime, the volunteer considered that we have a very serious diversity problem and measures have to be taken, even if they are in a short-term context.

Quotas[edit]

  • On a gender quota, a volunteer argued that there are currently many women on the board, but it is because there have been very clear policies to bring diversity to that board, it has not fallen out of the blue. It has happened because there has been a specific policy. This needs to continue and not by the people who are there today.
  • One volunteer stated that one of the problems have always seen in the movement is that the issue of gender equality has always been placed on a par with diversity, but women are not a collective, they are half of the persons that inhabit the planet.
  • One volunteer said it would rank women's quotas over a regional quota because there is a need to generate a space where women can have more participation, but also a space for decision-making.
  • One volunteer argued that the gender quota should be part of the prerequisites for candidates and should be aimed at.

Call for types of skills and experiences[edit]

  • With respect to skills, a volunteer commented that there has to be some kind of specific capacity building program that also accompanies the development of those skills.

Regional seats[edit]

  • A voluntary stated regarding the regional quota, that we must be careful because we also have sub-regions, and not all of Latin America is represented in the same way. In Africa they have the same situation as well.
