Reporting violations of these guidelines
An election violation report (“complaint”) should cover the following information:
- Which candidate(s) violated the campaign rules;
- When the violation happened/first observed;
- Whether the violation happened online, offline, in a space hosted by a third party, or a mix of spaces;
- Any evidence supporting the complaint
- Preferably linking to the original source of that material
- Screenshots can be provided if original source is not accessible publicly
- A summary of the reasoning for the submission of this complaint.
Credibility and verifiability of a complaint should be investigated thoroughly. To help the Elections Committee in quickly assessing whether a complaint is credible or not, complainants are encouraged to state which campaign rule(s) that they allege the candidate has violated – although this is not a requirement, since the Elections Committee is ultimately responsible to decide on which violation(s) that they will charge to the candidate. Complaints that are known to be submitted in bad faith will not be entertained.
Complaints may be submitted to:
- electcom
wikimedia.org; or - through an on-wiki submission at Talk:Elections Committee
