The Wikimedia Fulfulde Community Yobe Network is a hub under the Wikimedia Fulfulde Community. It serves as a local structure for coordinating Wikimedia activities in Yobe State, Nigeria.
The Network exists to promote Fulfulde language projects (especially Fulfulde Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects) while encouraging active participation among volunteers, editors, librarians, educators, and cultural institutions in the region.
Objectives
Promote the growth and development of Fulfulde Wikipedia and related Wikimedia projects in Yobe State.
Organize trainings, edit-a-thons, and workshops that equip volunteers with editing skills.
Provide a platform for newcomers to receive mentorship, support, and guidance.
Collaborate with local institutions (schools, libraries, cultural groups) in advancing open knowledge in Fulfulde.
Serve as a hub for community projects, campaigns, and outreach.
Programs and Activities
Edit-a-thons & Training Workshops – building capacity for new and experienced editors.
Mentorship Program (Laawol Wiki) – guiding newcomers to edit and contribute in Fulfulde.
Graphics Internship – equipping community members with design skills for Wikimedia outreach.
Community Campaigns – participation in global initiatives such as 1Lib1Ref, Wiki Loves Africa, and Wiki Loves Earth.
Partnerships – collaboration with schools, universities, and cultural centers in Yobe State.
