[edit]- Experiment owner(s) - add your usernames: (not committed - first talk to us about resources etc) Effeietsanders, Tanveer, Chinmayee (welcoming others!)
- Experiment title: Can you make Wiki fall in love with AI chatbots? Let's move fast and fix things.
- Brief description of experiment: A Grand Prize Challenge to the best prototype of a stand-alone AI chatbot that uses Wikipedia (or Wikimedia) data that pays back the most useful data to Wikipedia. Low hanging fruit includes reported mistakes in Wikipedia articles, unexpected knowledge gaps in Wikipedia articles.
- The challenge will have a $20,000 prize [+ some other incentives] and a jury of 2 CS professors, 2 journalists and 2 Wikipedians, chaired by the <famous person insert name - WMF CPTO?>. It is evaluated after being used by <insert audience>.
- Anticipated completion date: 2 months
- Link to a page where people can follow progress - this can be your own userpage / sandbox: (to be discussed)
Long term context: In response to the explosive growth of the use of A.I. and its effects on the knowledge ecosystem, we should do what we can to elevate ethical AI to the top of the field.
- Q: Can you...?
- A: make it more ambitious? Yes, everything is negotiable! But let's move fast.
- Q: ...do another challenge?
- A: Yes, you can!
- The generalized form of this experiment is: A Grand Prize Challenge to the best prototype of <insert AI application> that uses Wikipedia (or Wikimedia) data <insert positive counter to a negative effect>. Low hanging fruit includes <include examples of what is already known to be possible or almost possible>.
- Q: Are you saying all AI is bad?
- A: No. This is about the concerns on the negative effects that the widespread use of AI as it is currently developing seems to have. It's a challenge to come with more innovative ways that some negative effect of that widespread use, could be different.
Needed:
- Grand Prize (is it enough? Who could make it available?)
- Better Objective definition
- Judgement Criteria
- Jury
- Communication Plan to possible participants
- Communication Plan to community (this will not be deployed!)
- Data Input definition
- Host for submissions
- Data Output definition
