  • Experiment title: Improving admin recruitment for small wikis
  • Brief description of experiment:

Identify wikis that would be ready for new administrators and send information to the local village pumps or talk pages or banners to suggest the idea that they select administrator, along with information about how to do so, and the available support and mentorship.

How to do this: Alongside the annual admin activity review, do a screening of the top contributors in small wikis, and match that with additional data on the local speedy deletion backlog. The purpose of this of this is to identify specific Wikis who would then receive generic outreach (see above).

The population of possible wikis might be 50 wikis or more…

What would we measure to know if it is successful:

  • Measure changes in the number of administrators
  • How many reach out for support (or otherwise respond)
  • Over time, does that wiki graduate away from the deletion lists

Tasks:

  • Create and define the algorithm for identifying wikis (talk to the person creating the admin activity analysis)
  • Create the outreach message, and translate it (User:CS_natematias is available to connect to language translation capacity if useful)
  • Decide who these wikis should contact for support
  • Develop trainings for people who respond
  • Anticipated completion date:
  • Link to a page where people can follow progress - this can be your own userpage / sandbox:
