Despite their influence and artistic achievements, some notable women in Highlife do not have Wikipedia articles or are insufficiently documented on Wikimedia and other online platforms.

Notable Women in Highlife is a focused content campaign to address the underrepresentation of women’s contributions to Highlife music by improving, expanding, and creating biographies and related content on Wikimedia platforms.

Campaign Objective

To reduce the gender documentation gap in Highlife by:

  1. Creating and improving biographies of notable women in highlife.
  2. Strengthening citations and reliability of existing articles.
  3. Encouraging sustained participation of editors in gender-focused documentation.

Some women who have contributed to Highlife in Ghana are still missing on Wikipedia. We invite participants to submit names of notable Ghanaian women in highlife, who do not yet have articles on Wikipedia, to stand a chance of winning internet data.

Eligibility Criteria

Please submit names that meet the following criteria:

  1. Is a woman who has contributed to the Highlife genre significantly.
  2. She does not have a Wikipedia article already. (Please conduct a search on Wikipedia to be sure)

How to Participate

It’s simple:

  1. Please read the eligibility criteria #2
  2. Review the list in the table below to ensure her name has not been submitted already.
  3. Share the name of notable women who meet the criteria using the Google Form

Prizes

Internet data package worth GHS 399 (All networks)

Winning will be determined based on:

  • Adherence to criteria
  • Quality of submissions
