The Wikimedia Italia Trainer Certificate is a certification for trainers of Wikimedia and OpenStreetMap projects issued by the Wikimedia Italia. The certification requires a self-assessment, the completion of a training course and an evaluation. Certification lasts for three years; after three years, a confirmation of competency and an annual course is required to validate the certification. Certified trainers are listed on the Wikimedia Italia website and are suggested by the association as trainers; certified trainers can be volunteers, Wikimedia Italia staff members or professionals.
The first edition of the Wikimedia Italia Trainer Certificate was implemented in 2023-2024. 12 trainers received the certification in its first round. Please refer to history for the list of certified trainers and the scientific committee.
Objectives
[edit]The certification of Wikimedia Italia trainers was created with the aim of recognizing the competences of active contributors on Wikimedia and OpenStreetMap projects and to strengthen their skills. The certification of trainers facilitates entry paths for new trainers with job-shadowing and training activities aimed at volunteers and professionals; it also allows to enhance the skills and knowledge of people already doing training activities as volunteers or as professionals.
In addition, certification of trainers allows Wikimedia Italia to have a list of people - certified professionals and volunteers in different fields - available to do free and paid trainings.
