During March and April 2026, Wikimedia Korea and Wikimedians of Japan user group will organize friendship editing month. During this event participants will contribute to Wikimedia projects about something related to the two countries.

Rules

On the Korean Wikipedia, you can edit articles related to Japan, and on the Japanese Wikipedia, you can edit articles related to Korea. You can participate in this project by editing articles related to Korea or Japan on other projects.

Please check out the local page for the additional information and any additional rules applied for each local wiki (JaWP, KoWP)

• To earn one point of eligible edit, you have to edit on/create an article of at least 3,000 bytes with reliable resources. Creating/editing a list also counts.
• Another one point will be added when you improve an article more than 6,000 bytes.
• Another one point will be added when you edit the articles on the wishlist

Korean Wikipedia has local rule regarding using AI (such as WikiVault and LLM) as assisting tools to contribute in this project. Please check local rule page to details.

Rewards

Like the friendship event held in 2024, we have prepared rewards for our counterparts in Japan and Korea. Please note that due to our circumstances, rewards can only be shipped within Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Participants who contributed more than 4 points will receive a small banstar for appreciation.

Korean Wikipedia editors will get souvenirs from Japan for about 10 contributors. The rewards provided to each user are as follows:

• Handkerchief: Each different design represents the characteristics and geography of one of Japan's 47 prefectures.
• Tokyo National Museum Postcard: Consists of the collection of the Tokyo National Museum (works from the 6th – 18th century) and works by Toshusai Sharaku (an Ukiyo-e painter in the late Edo period), Katsushika Hokusai (an Ukiyo-e painter in the 18th – 19th century), and Kitagawa Utamaro (an Ukiyo-e painter in the 18th – 19th century).
• FriXion pen: A popular erasable pen that uses heat-sensitive ink, allowing the writing to disappear when rubbed with the rubber tip on the top.

Please note that all Japan-related souvenir rewards sent by Wikimedia Korea are limited to ship within South Korea.

Participants from Japanese Wikipedia gets either one of two options below:

• Goryeo Celadon Handkerchief: Inspired by luxurious Goryeo celadon and blue-and-white porcelain, featuring a newly designed embroidery of the traditional cloud and crane motif on a background that symbolizes the sky.
• Drawing Moon Jar Pouch: This pouch modernly reinterprets the pure white elegance of the traditional Korean moon jar, featuring unique sewing drawings on traditional quilted cotton to bring a sense of warm embrace and tranquility into your everyday life.
