Wikimedia Language Diversity Hub/LDH Microgrants

The Language Diversity Hub Microgrants is a small grants program designed to support emerging and underrepresented language communities contributing to Wikimedia projects.
The program provides rapid financial support to volunteers, community groups, and organizations working to strengthen Wikimedia projects in their languages. It supports initiatives that increase awareness of Wikimedia platforms and improve the quality of content in underrepresented languages.
This initiative aligns with the work of the Wikimedia Language Diversity Hub, which aims to support linguistic diversity and the growth of knowledge in indigenous and minority languages within the Wikimedia ecosystem.
Grants may support activities related to:
- Wikipedia
- Wikidata
- Wikimedia Commons
- Other Wikimedia projects that promote open knowledge.
The microgrant program encourages innovative projects that help communities grow their presence across Wikimedia platforms.

Grant Information

Eligibility Criteria
[edit]Applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Applicants must belong to one of the supported language communities listed above.
- Applicants must be active contributors to Wikimedia projects or engaged in community activities related to their language.
- Grants must fund one discrete project or activity.
- Applications may be submitted in English or the applicant’s local language.
Applicants must also be in good community and legal standing according to the assessments of the Wikimedia Foundation Trust & Safety Team and the Community Resources Team.
Applicants must:
- Be compliant with all current and past Wikimedia Foundation grant agreements
- Not have any overdue or incomplete grant reports
- Follow Friendly Space policies and community conduct expectations
Application Process

[edit]Applicants must complete the application template below and submit it on Meta-Wiki.
Step 2: Review Process
[edit]Applications will be reviewed by the Language Diversity Hub Microgrants Committee.
Step 3: Decision Notification
[edit]Applicants will be notified of the decision within 2–3 weeks after submission.

Reporting Requirements
[edit]All grant recipients must submit a final report after completing the project.
The report should include:

- Number of participants
- Contributions made to Wikimedia projects
- Links to relevant Wikimedia pages
- Lessons learned
- Financial report with receipts where applicable
Reports should be submitted within 30 days after the project ends.
