Edit a thon "European Literature"
[edit]
An edit a thon focused on European Literature is being held on the Macedonian-language Wikipedia from September 13 to October 12, 2025.
The marathon aims to encourage the creation and improvement of articles related to European literary heritage. Participants can contribute by writing or expanding articles about:
- European authors (poets, novelists, playwrights, etc.)
- Literary works created and published in Europe
- Literary movements, schools, styles, and genres
- The history and development of literature in specific European countries
Articles must follow Wikipedia’s core content policies – they should be written in an encyclopedic style, include reliable and verifiable sources, and be aligned with the platform’s editorial standards. Articles about authors of non-European origin or works first published outside of Europe will not be considered within the scope of the competition, even if they are written in European languages.
There will be prizes for the best contributions, awarded after the end of the competition.
Wikimedia MKD presentation at the Fair of Organizations at International school "Nova"
[edit]Wikimedia MKD was once again part of the Organization Fair held on September 30, 2025 at the premises of the Nova International School. The event, which is traditionally organized within the framework of the CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) program, aims to offer students the opportunity to learn about various socially responsible initiatives and to engage in activities that contribute to the wider community.
Wikimedia MKD representatives, Bosa Filipović, Education Program Manager, and Jovan Tasevski, Community Manager, presented the organization's mission and goals to the students, with a special emphasis on how young people can contribute to the development of Wikipedia in Macedonian and the spread of free knowledge. The organization's stand attracted considerable interest - a large number of students asked about volunteer opportunities, the way articles are edited, and the projects in which they can actively participate.
Through conversations with the young participants, the Wikimedia MKD team received new ideas and suggestions for future activities that could be implemented in cooperation with schools and youth clubs. This dialogue is especially important, because it is precisely the students who bring fresh perspectives and creative approaches to the creation and sharing of knowledge.
By participating in this event, Wikimedia MKD once again confirmed its commitment to involving new generations in the movement for free knowledge. Through their energy, curiosity, and dedication, we will continue to build Wikipedia together and expand the reach of the free encyclopedia, accessible to all.
Wikimedia CEE Meeting 2025
[edit]

From September 26 to 28, 2025, representatives of Wikimedia MKD participated in the CEE Wikimedia Conference held in Thessaloniki, Greece. This annual event gathers Wikimedians from across Central and Eastern Europe to exchange knowledge, build partnerships, and strengthen the regional movement.
The Macedonian delegation included Snezhana Shtrkovska (Executive Director), Bosa Filipović (Education Program Manager), Jovan Tastevski (Community Manager), and board members Nino Bogdanovski and Kiril Simeonovski. Toni Ristovski, a Macedonian staff member of the CEE Hub, also attended.
Within the official program, the Macedonian delegation had a significant and noticeable presence by participating in several different sessions where key projects and initiatives implemented by Wikimedia MKD were presented. The representatives spoke about successful examples from practice in Macedonia, such as activities related to education, field research, collaborations with local institutions and community building.
In their addresses, they shared in detail the experiences gained through years of dedicated work, describing how Wikimedia MKD projects contribute to enriching free knowledge, encouraging young people to actively participate in Wikipedia, as well as preserving cultural and natural heritage through digital documentation. The Macedonian activities were presented as a successful model that can be adapted and applied in other countries in the region, and the interest aroused by the presentations resulted in concrete proposals for future cooperation and networking.
In addition to official sessions, the Macedonian team took part in informal discussions and working groups, contributing to future collaboration ideas and strengthening ties within the CEE Wikimedia network.
Wikimedia MKD’s participation reaffirmed its active role in the international community, sharing valuable experiences and inspiring further regional cooperation in the mission of spreading free knowledge.
