Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos

[edit]

Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos is a editing contest that aims to improve Wikipedia by adding relevant illustrations to articles that currently lack visual content, thereby enhancing their quality, clarity, and educational value.

Although many Wikipedia articles are well developed in terms of text and references, a significant number still do not include images that could help readers better understand the topics. Through this editing contest, contributors are encouraged to identify such articles and enrich them with suitable photographs available on Wikimedia Commons.

The editing contest is being held from 1 July to 31 August 2026, during which is expected participants to work on improving articles across different subject areas by adding appropriate visual materials in line with Wikimedia guidelines. Participants must include the tag #WPWPMK in every edit summary when adding an illustration, as well as on every article where an illustration is added.

The awards will be given to the most productive participants who have added illustrations to at least 100 different Wikipedia articles in the Macedonian language. A total of 5 awards are available, distributed as follows: the first prize will be awarded to one user, and the second prize will be awarded to four different users.

Teachers training at "Goce Delcev" primary school in Tetovo

[edit]

As a continuation of the Teachers' Conference held in May, a practical training session for teachers was conducted on 7 July 2026 at Goce Delchev Primary School in Tetovo. The purpose of this activity was to enable participants to put the theoretical knowledge they had gained during the conference into practice by editing Wikipedia with the support of Wikimedia MKD trainers.

During the training, the teachers became familiar with the process of creating new Wikipedia articles, editing and expanding existing content, adding internal links, categorizing articles, and applying the fundamental principles that make Wikipedia a reliable and verifiable source of information. Through practical exercises and individual work, each participant had the opportunity to apply their newly acquired knowledge and actively contribute to enriching the Macedonian-language Wikipedia.

A total of 12 teachers took part in the training, creating 19 new articles during the session. These articles represent a valuable contribution to expanding the free knowledge available to all Wikipedia readers. The participants also demonstrated a strong interest in becoming further involved in Wikimedia MKD's activities and in applying their newly acquired skills in their work with students. The training was conducted in a productive and interactive atmosphere, with participants asking questions, sharing experiences, and discussing the potential of Wikipedia as a complementary educational tool in the classroom.

You can see how it went through the photographic material uploaded on Commons, but also some of the photos are bellow:
