Wikimedia Morocco Mini-Hackathon 2025

The WikiMA Mini-Hackathon is a local technical event which allows members of WikiTechMA (Wikimedia Morocco Technical Project), and other interested members of Wikimedia Morocco User Group, to meet in person, and make progress on various technical tasks, fostering more collaboration and focus. The event can also be attended remotely in a limited fashion (for special sessions and team collaboration).

This is the second edition, which is organized in Fes, Morocco. The event took place in parallel to Wikicamp Fes 2025, and some participants attended both events.

Moroccan Hospitals

The project emphasizes multilingual coverage in Arabic, Amazigh, Darija, French, and English, and includes coordinates, images, and links to Wikidata entries.

Wikipedia chatbot

Darija Text-to-speech

Description: Sa7bot TTS Model is a proprietary text-to-speech system developed by Bisel91 in 2025. The model is built using the CoquiTTS framework and is designed primarily for generating natural-sounding speech in Moroccan Arabic (Darija).

The Sa7bot TTS Model is part of a hosted bot service on Toolforge, where it provides voice synthesis capabilities for conversational and accessibility applications. The system focuses on accurately capturing the linguistic nuances and phonetic characteristics of Moroccan Arabic, making it one of the few speech models optimized for that dialect.

Main outcome: As of 2025, the model remains in the training phase, with approximately 920 out of 5140 transcribed audio lines completed using Google Studio AI and tts.darijat tools.

Tifinagh Font

Description: The Amazighe language currently has three Wikimedia projects: shiwiki, zghwiki, and zghwiktionary. These projects still use a basic font for the Tifinagh alphabet. This marks the starting point for designing a new, modern, open-source font to improve readers' comfort. Named Wikimazigh Sans Tifinagh, this font will be used across the Amazighe projects and will be available on Google Fonts.
Main outcome: In this project, two main objectives were accomplished: the design of a new font family (called Wikimazigh Sans Tifinagh) and the preparation of all the documentation required by Google for the acceptance of a new font on Google fonts.

Mini-Hackathon statistics report
