Wikimedia Northern Europe Meeting 2026

Wikimedia Northern Europe Meeting is a regional gathering bringing together Wikimedians from the Nordic and Baltic countries at 6–7 June 2026. The meeting also serves as a venue for the Fenno-Ugric Wikiseminar and welcomes contributors from smaller-language Wikipedias in the region, including Inari Sami, Northern Sami, Livvi-Karelian, and Võro, as well as other Finno-Ugric-language writers living in the area.
The event is planned to take place in Oulu, Finland, as part of the Oulu 2026 European Capital of Culture programme. The venue is Tuirakas, a community space in the Tuira district.
The goal is to strengthen cross-border collaboration, share experiences between chapters, and support the development of smaller language projects across Northern Europe. This would be one of the first in-person gatherings for Nordic Wikimedia communities since the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also an opportunity to celebrate Wikipedia's 25th birthday year.
