Wikimedia UG Nigeria (WUGN) was recognized on the 28th September 2015 by Wikimedia Foundation. Before the establishment of the group, we executed Adopt a school series. In the year under review, Wikimedia UG Nigeria focuses the following projects:
This program focused on secondary school students in Nigeria. It involves training and introducing the basis of Wikipedia to the students.
This is an annual photographic contest. Our maiden appearance was in the year 2015 tagged African Fashion and Adornment.We contributed over 400 images to Wikimedia commons during the event.

We participated in this annual event as new comer in the year 2016. The group focuses 13 out of 64 declared national monuments in Nigeria. The 13 focused moments were based in south west of Nigeria. The event was concluded with over 473 images contributed during the event. The following 10 best images were presented to the international Wiki Loves Monuments community:

The project is primarily initiated to take snapshots of important structures and places across Nigeria.As a pilot project, the community started with the 6 states in the south west of the country. The project contributed over 400 images of structures and places to Wiki commons, while 20 of such images were used to improve articles on Wikipedia.

The purpose of this workshop is to acquaint the students with the overall scope of Wikipedia, its policies and practices. The workshop provided a hands-on training on how to become valuable editors. At the end of the workshop, we organized article writing competition between 28 January 2016 to 28 February 2016.It was also meant to celebrate 15 years of the establishment of Wikipedia within the local Nigerian community.

Wiki Loves Women[edit]
Wikimedia UG Nigeria participated in the maiden edition of Wiki Loves Women, a project established to bridge gender inequality by giving more visibility to African women. We held the under listed edit-a-thon that created many articles as follows:

This is an ongoing project designed as part of "SHE CAN with ICT", organized by W-TECH in conjunction Wiki Loves Women. "SHE CAN with ICT" is a series of entrepreneurship and ICT workshops for young women who are about starting or already in business and professional careers. The “SHE CAN with ICT” project was launched in 2015 and this is the 3rd edition in the series.
