Wikidata 10th Anniversary

The collaborative, multilingual, secondary, free knowledge database Wikidata is 10. The Wikimedia Network Abuja rolled out its drums with a Wikidata- Edit-A-Thon anniversary edition. The session was facilitated by Mrs. Oby Ezeilo and Mrs. Carolyn Seaman. Participants who were interested in learning how the centralized linked data repository for all Wikipedia projects works graced the in-person event. The competition embeds in editors the beauty and possibilities of Wikidata; Access to structured data, and information, across different languages and the ability of any language speaker to contribute. Wikidata also supports the pulling of information to enrich a collection, improve research work, and help illustrate a point in presentation with visualization.

At the end of the contest, a winner and runners-up emerged namely; AdastralNg22, Angelanaelia19, and Lyndadelz respectively. These top contributors were rewarded with fabulous prizes.

All attendees, most especially new editors were enjoined to continue with the Wiki update and should make the all-inclusive Wikidata community a home. See dashboard for metrics and more details.
