Wiki Loves Africa 2025
[edit]Wiki Loves Africa (WLA) is an annual contest where Africans contribute relevant free media to Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other sister projects. The theme for 2025 "Farm to Plate" encouraged participants to contribute images, videos and audio files) that illustrate the specific theme. After the local jury process, the top 3 entries were selected and awarded. See event page and dedicated category for more details.
WikiGap 2025:Closing the Online Information Gap on Women in STEM
[edit]This event promoted the visibility of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by engaging participants in training and an edit-a-thon to include information about women in STEM on Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. It also empowered participants, especially women, to become active contributors to online knowledge repositories. This initiative aligns with the global Wiki Gap movement, which seeks to improve the visibility of women online by adding quality information about their contributions to various fields.
