Wikimedians for Sustainable Development/Wikimania 2021 submission - Mapping activitities

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Title
Mapping Wikimedia activities towards the Sustainable Development Goals
Format
Workshop (45 minutes)
Topic
Strategy 2030 (but can also fit under Partnerships)
Type
Live
Description
Most, if not all, of the activities that are done within the Wikimedia movement are related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in one way or another. Being able to describe which of the goals they relate to and how can be of a great value. It can help the actual activity become better and also make it easier to communicate the value of the activity for a wider audience. This may enable new partnerships and funding opportunities.
This will be a workshop to finalize a guide for activity organizers on how they can map their efforts towards the SDGs and, conversely, how SDGs can be mapped to Wikimedia activities. There will be need for documentation on how to use it and templates on how it can communicated. The workshop will discuss areas that have been problematic and that need input.
PAST
By reviewing past activities together, we can see how they relate to the SDGs. This will be the first part of the workshop.
PRESENT
-
FUTURE
With the mapping of past activities done, we can plan activities that we want to do in the future, but even more importantly, and the second part of the workshop, is to identify the gaps. Which of the SDGs do we not address with our activities we have done so far, and what could we do to change that.
