The programs of Open Knowledge Tanzania are designed to strengthen local participation in the Wikimedia movement, expand access to open knowledge, and ensure that Tanzanian voices, languages, and lived experiences are represented globally. Our work centers on community-led knowledge creation, equitable participation, and long-term sustainability of open ecosystems.
All programs are locally designed and implemented, grounded in Tanzanian social, cultural, and educational contexts. Together, they contribute to building strong contributor communities, improving the quality and relevance of content, closing representation gaps, and strengthening organizational capacity.
This page provides an overview of our flagship programs. Each program has its own dedicated Meta-Wiki page with detailed information on objectives, activities, target communities, and expected outcomes.

This integrated approach allows Open Knowledge Tanzania to respond to both immediate community needs and long-term strategic goals.
