Wikimedians of Cameroon User Group/WikiPress Africa

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

WikiPress Africa is a bilingual (French and English) project of contributions to the Wikipedia encyclopedia through reliable primary sources including the press of the different countries that will take part (Cameroon, Benin, Togo, Burkina-Faso, Guinea ...). In 2022, the first edition of the project will be carried by Wikimedians of Cameroon User Group

Context and justfifcation

[edit]

It was noted the scarcity of references in the content of articles on the Wikipedia encyclopedia. Taking into account this defect, a team of volunteers embarked on a project to reference new articles from reliable sources from the local press (newspapers, magazines, ...). This will make the articles on Wikipedia more reliable.

How to participate?

[edit]

The project will start on January 08, 2022 and will recruit any volunteer wishing to participate in this project regardless of their nationality or not, or their residence. It is important to have a Wikipedia account for your participation to be taken into account (Aide:Compte utilisateur).

Access to the local press will be reserved for six volunteers who will translate the object of their reading into articles on Wikipedia.
