The Wikimedians of Japan User Group (WJUG) is hosting a meetup for the WP25, a special occasion to celebrate English Wikipedia’s 25th Birthday, that had fell on 15 January 2026.
What it is
[edit]Our host Mr. Masao Takaku, an Associate Professor specializing in the Library Science and Information Media at Tsukuba University 筑波大学図書館情報メディア系准教授 will give the keynote, presenting how Wikimedia Movement at large has evolved centered around Wikipedia, and his insight into its future. We expect to make it a friendly exchange of ideas with the audience as well.。
At this occasion, why don’t you give your thoughts as a Lignteneng Talk speaker, which we are calling for application as follows.
We will hold a tea over a WP25 birthday cake and a group photo session, before commencing.
Date, hours, and place
[edit]- Date: Sunday 1st March, 2026: 13:15 - 17:30 (JST). Helping staff is cordially asked to come by 12:30 pm.

- take the JR Chuo line, get off at the Nakano station to the South toll gate, and walk to the south; the meetup site is on your left-hand side, two or three buildings past the Mc'Donald's, opposite Marui department store (its logo as 〇I〇I); the site is on the 7th floor of the building, with the Daiwa Security on the ground floor (大和證券). - Fees: free of charge. Bring your won soft drink and snacks. The organizer will try and prepare some beverage, but lots limited.

five minutes each) - 15:30-17:00 - Coffee hours, with WP25 and group photo
- 17:00-17:30 - prepare to return the facility, say “till then”.
