- On 25th May 2026, we held our May 2026 Monthly Meetup from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm IST. The agenda for the meeting was shared and everyone was welcomed. 10 community members participated in the meeting and discussions.
- Ranjithsiji shared updates about Wiki Loves Theyyam 2026, which was conducted as a pilot project from 17 April to 17 May 2026. Around 650 images were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons by 16 contributors. Discussions were held on organizing follow-up activities closer to the Theyyam season.
- Jinoy shared updates from Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2026 in India, organized in collaboration with Wikimedia communities and partner organizations.
- Around 45 participants took part in the campaign by creating 71 new pages and improving around 327 pages across Wikimedia projects. An offline Wikipedia editing workshop was organised at Embassy of Ukraine, New Delhi along with a cultural activity and continued the online campaign till the end of April.
- Ranjithsiji shared updates from Wikisource Summit 2026, organized at the University of Calicut. A total of 18 participants attended the event, including contributors from other language communities. Discussions focused on collaboration and technical improvements for Wikisource projects.
- Jinoy shared updates about WikiConference India 2026. The conference theme has been announced. The theme for WCI 2026 is "Reimagining the Knowledge Commons" - Community Leadership in an Evolving Wikimedia Ecosystem.
- Ranjithsiji shared plans for a Wiki Loves Schools edit-a-thon, aimed at creating and improving school-related articles using information collected through the SchoolWiki project and previous photography campaigns.
- Ranjithsiji announced preparations for Wiki Loves Earth India 2026, which is planned to begin on 1 July 2026. Community members were encouraged to participate and help document natural heritage sites across India.
- Jinoy and Ranjith shared updates from Wikimedia Hackathon 2026 in Milan. The GLUES tool (Global Wikimedia User Information and Statistics) was developed and improved during the hackathon and was presented during the event. The tool provides a centralized dashboard for Wikimedia contributor information and receives valuable feedback from participants across multiple communities. Further enhancements to the tool were discussed.
- Ranjithsiji shared updates about Coordinate Me 2026, an international Wikidata campaign focused on improving geographic coordinates of Wikidata items. Community members were encouraged to participate before the campaign concluded at the end of May.
- Ranjithsiji shared updates on the Malayalam Wikivoyage initiative. Monthly community meetings have been held regularly over the past three months. An analysis tool named Inkpen has been developed and support was requested for the Malayalam Wikivoyage approval proposal.
- Community members also discussed the ongoing digitization of M. P. Parameswaran's works, potential collaborations with DC Books for bibliographic data sharing, plans for Kerala Cultural Month, the Women in Red tool developed by Netha Hussain for identifying missing articles, improvements to mobile navigation templates.
- Ranjith and Jinoy shared an update received on Village pump of Malayalam Wikipedia and to User group's email regarding the participation in the Abstract Wikipedia pilot project. (read more...)
