1. Open Knowledge Ecosystem Buildup through Community Collaboration

Objective: Strengthen collaboration among volunteers, institutions, and allied organizations to enrich Kerala’s open knowledge movement.

  • Foster cross-project-community collaboration (Wikipedia, Wikidata, Commons, Wikisource, Wikivoyage).
  • Create mentorship programs to nurture new contributors.
  • Build thematic working groups (culture, language, biodiversity, education).
  • Conduct regular edit-a-thons, hackathons, and workshops focused on local knowledge.

2. Institutional Partnerships

Objective: Collaborate with academic, cultural, and research institutions.

  • Partner with universities and libraries to digitize archives and manuscripts.
  • Establish GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) collaborations.
  • Collaborate with local publishers for open licensing of Kerala literature.
  • Build long-term institutional MoUs to sustain contributions.

3. Government Collaborations

  • Advocate for open licensing of government publications, maps, and data.

  • Participate in global events like Wiki Asian Month, Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves Folklore.
  • Mobilize community for Feminism and folklore
  • Localize campaign materials into Malayalam and regional languages.

5. Initiating Global Campaigns

Objective: Launch Kerala-origin campaigns with global participation.

  • Wiki Loves Onam – documenting Kerala’s biggest festival.
  • Wiki Loves Village – documenting rural life, biodiversity, and traditions.
  • Develop Biodiversity campaigns like Wiki Loves Birds
  • Encourage other Wikimedia communities to replicate these campaigns globally.

6. Research in Language and Technology

Objective: Promote Malayalam and allied languages in digital, AI, and open data spaces.

  • Conduct research on machine translation and speech recognition.
  • Create linguistic corpora and contribute to Wikidata Lexemes.
  • Collaborate with academic research labs on digital humanities.

7. Capacity Building

  • Conduct training on Wikimedia tools, Wikidata, Structured Data on Commons.
