Communication

1. Expanding the Social Media Ecosystem
In 2025, WMROMD optimized its presence on established platforms (Facebook, Instagram) while identifying a need for a more professional outreach strategy.
Launch of the LinkedIn Channel: A major milestone was the opening of the official LinkedIn account. This channel was specifically designed to:
- Target institutional partners, academics, and GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) professionals.
- Highlight the group’s impact on digital literacy and open education.
- Share success stories from academic partnerships and "Wikimedian in Residence" programs to attract professional collaborators.
- Visual Storytelling: Increased use of video content and high-quality photography from events like Wiki Loves Monuments across both Romania and Moldova.
2. Strategic Regional Communication
- The group solidified its role as a key player in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region through active participation in regional communication hubs.
- CEE Newsletter & Meta-Wiki: The group regularly contributed articles to the CEE Newsletter, sharing local successes such as the #1Lib1Ref 2025 campaign results. This ensured that Romanian and Moldovan initiatives were visible to the global movement.
- Wikimedia CEE Hub Channel: By using the CEE Hub’s communication infrastructure (Telegram and mailing lists), WMROMD engaged in cross-border knowledge exchange, notably during the preparations for hosting the CEE Meeting 2026 in Cluj-Napoca.
3. "ȘtiriWiki": Reaching New Audiences A cornerstone of the 2025 internal strategy was the development of ȘtiriWiki, a dedicated newsletter in the Romanian language.
Target Audience: It served as a bridge to reach "passive" supporters, educators, and volunteers who may not be active on Meta-Wiki or global mailing lists.
Content Focus: The newsletter provided a curated summary of: Local edit-a-thons and workshops. Technical updates relevant to the Romanian Wikipedia community. Opportunities for grants and scholarships.
Impact: This tool proved essential for building a cohesive identity among the diverse Romanian-speaking contributors spread across the two countries and the diaspora.
