The year was characterized by a strong focus on structured data, gender diversity, and formalizing educational partnerships across Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Lebanon.


Education & Literacy

Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom (Jordan) - Season 3

Building on the success of previous years, the third season of the "Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom" program was implemented in Jordan.

  • Scope: Targeted secondary education teachers in the Zarqa governorate.
  • Objective: Training educators to use Wikipedia as a tool for Media and Information Literacy (MIL).
  • Outcome: Strengthening the partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of Education and providing teachers with resources to combat misinformation through the Wikimedia ecosystem.

History of the Levant Project (مشروع تاريخ الشام)

A collaborative project with Juthour for Science and Peace.

  • Activities: Systematic documentation of the cultural and social history of the Levant region.
  • Goal: Increasing the quality of historical articles on Arabic Wikipedia and sourcing rare documents for upload to Wikimedia Commons.

An intensive edit-a-thon and competition held in November 2025 as part of the global "She Said" campaign.

WikiData-HER Competition (مسابقة ويكي بياناتهن)

Organized in collaboration with the Wiki-Hen (Wiki Women) group, this competition focused on the technical side of gender representation.

  • Task: Improving structured data for Arab women on Wikidata.
  • Impact: Enhanced the discoverability of regional female figures across multiple language versions of Wikipedia.

From Text to Data: Syria Evacuation Day 2025

To celebrate the Syrian Independence (Evacuation) Day, a specialized technical workshop was held: "من النص إلى البيانات".

  • Concept: Volunteers transformed historical texts and timelines of the Syrian independence movement into structured data points.
  • Platform: Primarily focused on Wikidata and Wikisource.

Jordan Independence Day Edit-a-thon (79th Anniversary)
