Wikimerdia Armenia/Wikicamps
WikiCamp is one of the initiatives of Wikimedia Armenia. It is designed for teenagers aged 13-17 and youth aged 18-35. During a WikiCamp, participants contribute to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. At the same time, they participate in sports activities, intellectual and cultural games, as well as entertainment.
WikiCamp is one of Wikimedia Armenia’s projects, the purpose of which is to develop Armenian Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects by utilizing the skills of school and university students, while ensuring their active participation in other entertaining activities.
WikiCamp provides an opportunity for students to explore and develop their interests and abilities through Wikimedia projects. WikiCamp, as an educational environment, is a means of alternative learning without any restrictions. It is a place where participants gain valuable experience, knowledge, and skills that help them become better people both at school and in their future careers.
All activities in a WikiCamp is designed in a way to help increase campers’ self-esteem, self-confidence, independence, teamwork, and respect toward others and differing opinions. In WikiCamps participants learn to critically analyze things, express their opinions, and make decisions which are all that ensure progress for a lifetime.
WikiCamps include many teamwork-related activities that promote cooperation, and communication, and improve problem and conflict-solving abilities both individually and in a team. Campers work towards a common goal while having individual goals, as in Wikipedia.
By your donation to WikiCamp, teenagers and youth of another rural community will be granted an opportunity to participate in this educational and fun activity.
