Wikipedia & Education User Group/Working Groups/Expression of interest

The Wikipedia & Education User Group has established working groups to collaboratively advance the service provision to the Wikimedia and Education Movement. As of 2025, four working groups exist: Outreach and Engagement; Resource Curation and Development; Technical Infrastructure; and Capacity Building and Volunteer Support Working Group. This page provides instructions on how express interest in joining EduWiki working groups.

Community call

[edit]

The Wikipedia & Education User Group is excited to invite education program officers from Wikimedia affiliates and staff at educational institutions to join our newly forming EduWiki Working Groups. We also welcome individual, unaffiliated volunteers with a strong and sustained track record in Wikimedia and education. However, priority will be given to applicants representing a Wikimedia affiliate or an educational institution.

Working groups are being created to collaboratively shape and strengthen key areas of the global EduWiki movement. They are designed to be participatory and inclusive, with broad representation across regions, languages, and experiences. We especially welcome applicants who can bring the perspective of their affiliate or institution and help ensure our work reflects the needs and realities of those on the ground.

Your participation will help guide the EduWiki Movement’s future priorities and support systems. Details on the expectations and time commitment may be found here.

Form

[edit]

To join the EduWiki Working Groups, please fill out the [XXXXXX Expression of Interest form]. The form is kindly hosted by Wikimedia Portugal on their LimeSurvey platform.

The information collected through the form will be used solely for the selection process. It includes the following sections:

  • Basic Information
  • Affiliation and Role
  • Experience and Background
  • Working Group Interests
  • Availability and Commitment
  • Motivation
  • Additional Comments (optional)

Only members of the Wikipedia & Education UG may apply. Membership request is lightweight; join!

The combined membership of all working groups will constitute the EduWiki advisory committee.

Selection

[edit]

A small coordination team (possibly including existing WG members or representatives from the UG Board) will review submissions with the aim of ensuring diversity and effectiveness.

The schedule for the community calls will be determined jointly by the Board and the working groups.
