From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Welcome to the Global Outreach Working Group!

Goals

[edit]

This group aims to promote the concept of Wikimedia and Education beyond the Wikimedia movement. This includes advocating for the use of Wikimedia projects as pedagogic tools, both for students (to learn) and for educators (to teach), to the global educational community, educational organisations, and international organisations such as UNESCO. In other words, this can be said as expanding the EduWiki community by proactively reaching out to educators across the globe.

Group Facilitator

[edit]
  • Board Liaison:
  • Working Group Chair:

What does it mean, practically?

[edit]
  • Facilitating partnerships with individuals, educators, educational institutions and other like-minded organizations, to explore the use of Wikimedia in Education.
  • Speak about EduWiki at national and international events. This majorly includes non-Wikimedia events, which are both related to education and also open access.
  • Participate in the advocacy and development of Open Educational Resources, and create movement-wide resources on OERs.
  • Coordinate with the Mentorship group, and ensure that the potential connections are followed up, and have the necessary support to start their activities.

Who is invited to join?

[edit]
  • Experienced education program leaders who are interested in advocating for Wikimedia in Education beyond Wikimedia.
  • Educators interested in Wikimedia, and to help us echo this interest to the global community of educators.
  • People having experience with development of OERs, and are willing help the EduWiki community to do the same.
  • People who have access to events related to education or open access, and are interested in our vision.
