I clearly remember the day I was sitting on a bench under a tree with my friend at the university in Shiraz, Iran, and he mentioned: "there is this project which is new and the name is Wikipedia... People can add to it and they can also edit it..." As I got home, I immediately turned on my PC and googled "Wikipedia"... Took me years to grow the courage to edit stuff here... And also, thank you, Jimmy! You made your mark and as Saadi says:

I've actually never listened to anyone who told me that I shouldn't rely on this website, but I trust this place now more than ever - we ought to make mistakes, but that's part of being human. To finish, the articles I've visited these past few weeks are: a list of every known endemic birds in my region, a list of every (known and listed) pastries, and many lists of cave animals! The funniest article I've found so far is the article for the Mammamia profuga, a cave insect whose name approximately means "wow! homeless!" because the cave that the organism was discovered in was destroyed - arz signing off!

  • I remember the early exciting days of editing Wikipedia, from around 2005 to 2010. For various reasons I have not been involved with Wikipedia since 2010, up until about a year ago i.e. early 2025.
