Cos'è il Mese asiatico di Wikipedia?

Il Mese asiatico di Wikipedia (WAM) è un concorso online che si tiene con cadenza annuale. Dal 2015 è gestito dal «Wikipedia Asian Month User Group» ed è stato ideato per favorire ogni novembre la crescita di contenuti wikipediani sull'Asia.

Quest'iniziativa si estende oltre le comunità asiatiche, coinvolgendo le wikipedie in varie lingue e i siti dei progetti della Wikimedia Foundation, incoraggia anche gli organizzatori locali a tenere eventi collegati. Ai wikipediani che su ogni wikipedia creano il maggior numero di articoli è assegnato il Wikipedia Asian Month Golden Award. Se sono presenti partner locali, questi possono decidere, a loro discrezione, di proporre un sistema di valutazione e premi locali per le rispettive comunità.

Come partecipare al Mese asiatico di Wikipedia 2024?

Com'editrice/tore

  • Trova l'edizione di Wikipedia nella lingua cui ti piacerebbe contribuire (controlla che l'edizione linguistica figuri tra le partecipanti).
  • Leggi attentamente le regole del concorso.
  • Scegli articoli su temi e argomenti afferenti all'Asia e comincia a creare articoli.
  • Regìstrati in qualsiasi momento durante il mese del concorso.

Come organizzatrice/tore

  • Recluta la tua squadra locale per l'organizzazione del concorso; raccomandiamo non più di 5 persone.
  • Crea una pagina dell'evento per gestire il concorso a livello locale all'interno della tua comunità linguistica e aggiungi un link al tuo evento nella pagina «Registrazione e partecipazione».
  • Monitora le campagne online; se possibile, organizza eventi in presenza.
  • Tieni traccia dei progressi dei partecipanti tramite lo strumento Fountain.

Le regole di contribuzione e la verifica degli editori idonei.

At Wikipedia Asian Month, we hope to select focus theme for each years campaign, and encourage participant to get to know more about one piece of this area.

Let's discover this together! Many places in Asia have experienced colonialism, which has had a profound impact on the cultural, political, and economic development of various countries. Whether you're interested in the history of colonization, historical sites, or related institutions, let us explore the traces of history in this area together. The Free and Open Indo-Pacific (also known as the Indo-Pacific Strategy) has been proposed as a global strategy put forth by Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, with the spirit of freedom and peace being a focal point of concern in this region. We can focus on democratic events and institutions within this area. Muslim female athletes have made remarkable achievements. Since 2012, Saudi Arabia has had female athletes participate in the Olympics for the first time. Many Muslim female athletes have excelled in the Olympics. Let's pay attention to their outstanding performances! The unique geography of Central Asia includes majestic mountains, vast deserts, and lush grasslands. The climate ranges from frigid conditions in high mountains to the scorching heat of the desert, creating a diverse natural environment that forms a distinct ecosystem. WAM Timetable

  • October 1st, 2024 : Publish International Campaign Page of the Year.
  • October 5th to 25th, 2024 : Call for focus themes of WAM 2024.
  • Before 29 October, 2024: Complete registration of each language Wikipedia.
  • November 1st, UTC 00:00 to December 31th, UTC 00:00, 2024: Running the Campaign. (Find your local campaign for the actual date)
  • January 1st to March 15th, 2025: Auditing of each language Wikipedia.
  • March 30th, 2025: Deadline of reporting statistics and eligible editors to the International Team.
  • April 1st to May 15th, 2025: The international team distributes Barnstars and Certificates to eligible editors of each event.

Tips for Organizers

Preparing Campaign

  • Recruit your local campaign organizing team, we recommend no more than 5 people.
  • Pick a start date for your campaign, count for 30 days as the end date. It should be a continuous 30 days from November 1st to December 31st. For example: November 1st to November 30th, November 15th to December 14th would be good campaign dates.
  • Set up a Wikipedia page for the local campaign in your language, and place the page link in the Registration list. You should provide a way to collect contributions of your editors and describe how will you collect them in your local campaign page.
  • Translate this page into your language.
  • If you discover there is already a local WAM campaign, contact your local campaign organizer, and ask if they need volunteers to help review/auditing articles.

Promoting Campaign

  • Engage local editors and aim for maximum participation.
  • Continue to call for participants to participate at the village pump, community bulletin board, mailing list, site notice, etc.

Auditing Articles

  • Depends on the tool you use for calculation. Auditing the edits from your participants. If a participant has edited more than 3,000 bytes with reliable reference, please add this editor in the Programs & Events Dashboard of your local program, and point those articles to this editor.
