2. ಅರ್ಹ ಅರ್ಜಿದಾರರು

3. Types of Events Supported
The grant may support a variety of offline and online events, including but not limited:
- Edit-a-thons: Focused on improving or expanding specific content.
- Workshops and Seminars: Teaching new users how to contribute to Wikimedia projects.
- Live-Virtual Collaboration Events: Activities aimed at engaging participants from diverse regions to improve content or expand community outreach.
The event must result in tangible improvements to WAM projects, such as new or expanded articles, increased contributions, or new users joining the communities.
4. Timeline
Cycle 1:
- Submission deadline: 20 Sep 2025
- Review: 21 Sep 2025 - 15 Oct 2025
- Decision announced: 16 Oct 2025 - 20 Oct 2025
- Grant processing and payment: 20 Oct 2025 - 30 Oct 2025
- Earliest offline hold date: 1 Nov 2025

- Submission deadline: 20 Mar 2026
- Review: 21 Mar 2026 - 29 Mar 2026
- Decision announced: 30 Mar 2026 - 31 Mar 2026

5. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for an Offline Event Grant, your event should:
- Focus on WAM projects: The event must have a direct connection to Wikimedia’s goals and mission.
- Be open to the public: Events should be inclusive and encourage participation from diverse groups, particularly from underrepresented communities.
- Encourage content creation: There must be a clear plan for participants to contribute to WAM projects during the event.
- Have a defined impact: There should be a measurable goal, such as the creation of new Wikipedia articles or an increase in user participation.
6. Grant Amount
The grant amount varies depending on the scale and scope of the event. Typically, grants range from USD 100 to USD 275, and the total funding amount is determined based on the following criteria:
- The number of participants.
- The resources needed for the event (venue, materials, refreshments, etc.).
- The expected impact on WAM projects.
Applicants should provide a detailed budget outlining their expected costs.
7. How to Apply
Applications are reviewed by the Steering Committee of Wikipedia Asian Month User Group. To apply, please follow these steps:
Submit an application to the regional ambassador: You’ll need to provide detailed information about the event, including:
- List of organizers.
- Event objectives and goals.
- Expected number of participants.
- Timeline of the event (including preparation and post-event activities).
- A detailed budget, including any additional funding sources.
Provide a Detailed Plan: Outline how the event will help improve WAM content and how you plan to encourage participation and content creation.
Review Process: Ambassador will collect all applications within the respective region and then submit to Wikipedia Asian Month User Group Steering Committee, the WAMUG StC will review the application and may request additional information or clarification.
8. Disbursement Process After Approval:
Once the applicant's event plan is approved, the grants will not be directly issued to the applicant. Instead, the grants will first be disbursed to the regional ambassadors. The regional ambassadors will then send the grants to the event organizers in their respective regions.
The applicant must provide necessary payment information, such as bank account details or other appropriate payment methods, so that the regional ambassador can issue the grants.
Upon completion of the event, the applicant is required to submit a report detailing the actual usage of the grant. This should include:
- Expense Breakdown: A detailed list of the actual expenses incurred, along with corresponding invoices or receipts.
- The Event Outcome Report: it should include the total number of Wikipedia articles created or expanded during the event, as well as the number of participants who joined the campaign or made their first edits during the event and the photos from the event.
- Other Measurable Impact: This may include increased community engagement or the expansion of knowledge sharing.
9. Grants Usage Policy:
The grants granted must be used exclusively for event-related expenses (e.g., venue rental, materials, refreshments, etc.). They cannot be used for personal gains or unrelated expenses. Any grants not used for the intended purpose must be returned to Wikipedia Asian Month User Group.
