Wikipedia for Peace/No More War 2023
Wikipedia for Peace Online: No More War
May / June 2023
About the project
This is an online camp! Volunteers and activists are looking for new online spaces to use for peace and social justice. Wikipedia can be one of them! In this Wikipedia for Peace online camp, we will learn how to write Wikipedia articles and will get to know more about inspiring activists and organisations fighting for peace and non-violence - and against war and militarism. Some of the core topics of the project that we want to cover are antimilitarism, nuclear weapons, non-violence, disarmament, weapon industries and military conscription.
A week of editing Wikipedia together and connecting! Every day we have ca. 3 hours in the afternoon (Central European Time) where we gather in the video platform Zoom. And in the mornings you can work individually or in small groups. You don’t have to have knowledge on Wikipedia already to join the project. We will be a group of 15 participants from around the world. We will meet online via video calls from 8 May-12 June. Our common language will be English. Apart from editing Wikipedia and learning / discussing about antimilitarism, we will also get to know each other.
Dates for sessions:
- 8 May – 18:00-20:00 CET
- 9 May – 18:00-20:00 CET
- 15 May – 18:00-20:00 CET
- 22 May – 18:00-20:00 CET
- 29 May – 18:00-20:00 CET
- 5 June – 18:00-20:00 CET
- 12 June – 18:00-20:00 CET
This project is organised by Service Civil International Switzerland in cooperation with Wikimedia Switzerland.
