Wikipedia on Aruba/About
The Wikipedia on Aruba project is an initiative aimed at expanding and strengthening Aruba’s presence on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms by ensuring that reliable, well-sourced, and freely accessible information about the island is available to a global audience.
Through collaborations with local organizations, cultural institutions, and volunteers, the project focuses on documenting Aruba’s history, heritage, and notable figures, while also encouraging contributions in Papiamento to support linguistic and cultural representation. Additionally, it promotes the collection and sharing of freely licensed images via Wikimedia Commons, helping to visually document Aruba’s landscapes, traditions, and events.
By building an Aruban Wikimedia community through events and activities and providing tools and knowledge to contribute, this initiative seeks to preserve Aruba’s unique identity while making it part of the world’s largest open knowledge ecosystem.
