Wikiproyecto Mujeres y Salud

¡Welcome to the Mujer y Salud Project page on Wikipedia!
This initiative joins the WikiProject Women's Health with the purpose of identifying and reducing the knowledge gaps related to women's health on Wikipedia, primarily in Spanish, Catalan, Galician, and Basque.
WikiProject Mujeres y Salud is an initiative that aims to review and expand content related to women's health, incorporating a gender perspective. This approach helps to highlight and correct gender biases present in many articles, contributing to a more equitable and accurate encyclopedia. Applying a gender perspective to health content means recognizing the inequalities that affect women — stemming from both biological differences and social or cultural factors — and ensuring that the information available reflects this reality in a fair and well-documented way.
For a long time, medical research and clinical practice have been based on male models, leading to biases in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases in women. For example, cardiovascular diseases have traditionally been considered a male issue, resulting in delayed diagnoses and inadequate treatments for women. Additionally, chronic pain in women has often been minimized or attributed to psychological causes, reflecting a gender bias in medical care.
