Wikisource Conference 2025/Scholarships

The Wikisource Conference 2025 will be held in Bali, Indonesia, between 14–16 February 2025, and these scholarships are to support community members who wish to attend in person. These scholarships are made possible through the Wikimedia Foundation, which provides funding to enable diverse and inclusive participation at the conference.
Scholarships
[edit]Visa fees, round trip flights, local transportation, accommodation, limited medical insurance, meals (lunch and dinner during pre-conference and conference days, plus the closing party), and other required expenses.
Eligibility and application
[edit]Scholarships are open to active Wikisource contributors and community members involved with related Wikimedia projects. The scholarship committee will review all applications based on criteria such as contribution history, engagement within the community, and potential impact on the conference and any other notable contribution.
Scholarship categories
[edit]Scholarships are categorized based on the applicant's region of residence:
- Local Scholarships: For Wikimedians residing within Indonesia but outside the regional scholarship zones.
- Regional Scholarships: For Wikimedians residing within ESEAP region.
- International Scholarships: For Wikimedians residing outside the ESEAP region who are actively engaged with outside regional communities and projects.
Application process
[edit]The application period for scholarships is open from 1 September 2024 and close on 20 September 2024. The last date for applying scholarship is extended to 29th September 2024. We encourage all eligible participants to apply early.

Guess what? The applications are in, the reviews are done, and the shortlist for the 2025 Wikisource Conference in Indonesia is ready! We had over 300 of you apply (amazing!), and a team of dedicated wiki volunteers sifted through each application with care and attention. The selected usernames have been sent individual invites straight from wikisourceconferencegmail.com — check your inbox (and spam folder, just in case)!
Now, if you got the golden email, congrats! 🎉 Make sure to reply within the deadline to lock in your spot. And if you didn’t get an email yet, don’t give up hope! We might still have room for more folks as we finalize the list over the next couple of weeks. Hang tight, and you’ll hear soon!
