Title
[edit]Building a Wikikruna from Lontar Manuscripts: Our Journey from Wikisource to Wiktionary
Description
[edit]This session will discuss my initiative as a new Wikimedia member to develop a dictionary in Wiktionary incubator from lontar manuscripts in WikiPustaka (Balinese wikisource) into Wikikruna. I try to list lontar terms and organize Wikikruna dictionary. The initiative emphasizes words and phrases, especially plants such as flowers and medicinal plants in lontar Usada. This effort aims to extract important Lontar terms and phrases and add them to Wiktionary to make the manuscripts' complex language more accessible. Another goal is lontar-based Balinese Wiktionary. We will cover the steps we took, from entering words, classifying them, producing meaning and entries in Balinese and Indonesia, and recording lingua libre pronunciation voices. This project highlights the issues we faced integrating Wikisource entries into Wiktionary and future collaboration with other communities to construct Wiktionary from Wikisource.
Relationship to Wikisource or to the theme
[edit]The relationship with Wikisource and the Wikisource theme: Digital Transformation & Preservation of Heritage is that Lontar or Balinese Manuscript as a form of cultural heritage can preserve its contents by collecting the words recorded in it into a more easily accessible dictionary. In this case, Wikisource is used as a data source in making the dictionary.
