Status of ROR import[edit]

Hi Sic19, I notice you recently imported a few ROR IDs with OpenRefine: [1]. Thank you! These are making some of my matches for the DOAJ import easier. I still have some 3800 unmatched entities among the institutions which support journals, so I wonder how many of these might be in ROR. Were all ROR IDs imported already, or did you only import IDs for the existing items? If I import ~4000 items (with name as provided by DOAJ, generic P31, country and an example URL), are you able to repeat your matching to add more ROR IDs and possibly identify duplicates? To the best of my knowledge, all of the ROR IDs are already matched to Wikidata items. Simon Cobb (User:Sic19 ; talk page) 13:35, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thank you. Nemo 14:49, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Widest class[edit]

What's the widest class which applies to items having this property and which could be used by default when importing some? I'm using cultural association (Q62626341) for some items I create which could end up having a ROR, because organization (Q43229) is too generic, while Q4671277, Q2385804 and Q5341295 appear to focus on teaching, Q3726309 appears to focus on entities which only/mainly do research, Q955824 is too narrow and Q5193377 seems to be about GLAMs only. ROR not reliable[edit]

  1. Some have the same ISNI https://ror.org/04ma29860 https://ror.org/022rydv31 0000000405104503
  2. https://ror.org/02gmp5156 "National Research Foundation of Ukraine" ISNI 0000000458970237 Korea ....

Thanks for finding these problems! Please find more and post to their github. They seem to have a streamlined curation process, which is more than can be said of many similar aggregator organizations. I posted these:
1. https://github.com/ror-community/ror-updates/issues/9821 merge these two
2. https://github.com/ror-community/ror-updates/issues/9822 remove wrong ISNI
3. https://github.com/ror-community/ror-updates/issues/9823 Merge records based on Wikidata "single value" constraint
