Some thoughts[edit]

Step 1:

  • special attention on Wikimedia projects is given to internationalization and localization: please be sure to make strings like "TNT" configurable in your code, even if your tool will be probably used at first on Meta and Commons only;
  • insert "Special:MyLanguage/" before links only when needed (e.g. for help and project pages that could be potentially marked for translation, but not for user pages: smart AI!), and translated to the language of the wiki;
    • {{ll}} could also serve the same purpose.

Step 2:

  • drag-and-drop is a must-have feature, but also more advanced controls should be provided (if a paragraph has to be split before matching with the original text);
  • please consider designing a system so that users can help TAs migrating old translations in languages they speak (I often went to pieces while migrating texts in non-Latin alphabets!): very detailed user language preferences are already used by the Translate extension;
  • I don't get the last item: what do you mean with "language navigation template"?

I can't wait! :P --Ricordisamoa 18:25, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Ricordisamoa: Thanks for your feedback! Yes, I would try my best to make "Special:MyLanguage/" prefix work smartly! We will consider your suggestions for step 2 for sure. And my bad, I used the wrong terminology. I meant the language bar at the top (as seen in the image), useful for switching between the languages in which the translations are present.
