Talk:Title blacklist

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Shortcut:
WM:TBL
The associated page is used by the TitleBlacklist MediaWiki extension, and lists strings of regular expressions that may not be used as page titles or usernames on any Wikimedia projects. Any Meta-Wiki administrator or steward can edit this blacklist.

For more information on what the title blacklist is for, and the processes used here, please see Title blacklist/About.

Please post comments to the appropriate section below: Proposed additions, Proposed removals, or Troubleshooting and problems, read the messageboxes at the top of each section for an explanation. Proposed additions[edit]

This section is for proposing that a page title be blacklisted; add new entries at the bottom of the section. Provide links demonstrating widespread creation by multiple users or IP's. Completed requests will be marked as done or denied and archived.

"Nate Higgers"[edit]

.*nate.*higger.* <newaccountonly|antispoof>

I omitted the "s" on purpose, as at least one account seemed to omit it. There seem to be 50 accounts matching this regex, with one created every couple of months (the most recent one being Special:CentralAuth/NateHiggers69420666, which prompted me to come here). It's not very common, but false positives are sufficiently unlikely that I would suggest blacklisting it anyways. —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 18:08, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure antispoof is really necessary here, but a but of gUser search suggests this might be useful. ~~~~

You may well be right, I don't know the tradeoffs re enabling antispoof for these entries. Feel free to implement without antispoof and I can come back if I notice someone trying to get around it in a way antispoof can detect. —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 00:35, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

kleshkreikne[edit]

.*\bkleshkreikne\b.* <newaccountonly|antispoof>

Hi. I'm kleshkreikne requesting that I add my username to the Wikimedia global title blacklist because of repeated personal attacks towards me by the "BMX on WheeIs" LTA. (1, 2, 3). As you can tell, they've tried to make death threats using my username and vandalized my user talk page on en.wiki. The only way for this to work is by adding my name to the global title blacklist. It's greatly appreciated. Thanks! kleshkreikne. t 05:02, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@kleshkreikne What is your previous account and experience through the wikis? It is unusual for someone with 386 global edits to be involved in these areas and to be having an LTA in a xwiki battle. I feel that there is a whole back story here that is not being revealed or addressed. I feel that it would be better for you to privately talk to a steward and see if they will agree to add your username to the blacklist. I don't feel comfortable doing it.  — billinghurst sDrewth 10:06, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed removals[edit]

This section is for proposing that a title be unlisted; please add new entries at the bottom of the section. Remember to provide the specific title or regex blacklisted, links to the articles they are used in or useful to, and arguments in favour of unlisting. Completed requests will be marked as done or denied and archived. The addition or removal of a title is not a vote, please do not bold the first words in statements.

Troubleshooting and problems[edit]

This section is for comments related to problems with the blacklist (such as incorrect syntax or entries not being blocked), or problems saving a page because of a blacklisted title. This is not the section to request that an entry be unlisted (see Proposed removals above).
