Goings-on in December 2007

26 :: Jimbo Wales has appointed the new members of the English Wikipedia Arbitration Committee.
22 :: 2nd Public meeting for Wikimania 2008 to be held in #wikimania2008connect.
21 :: As per the 2007 steward election, the new stewards have been appointed.
18 :: Erik Möller is appointed by Sue Gardner as the Deputy Director of the Wikimedia Foundation.
17 :: Erik Möller resigns from the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees.
15 :: City bidding for Wikimania 2009 is now officially opened.
13 :: The first public planning meeting is held for Wikimania 2008 (Details).
3 :: Voting for the English Wikipedia Arbitration Committee begins here today. Voting closes December 16th.
1 :: The Chapters Committee appoints Anders Wennersten, Andrew Whitworth, and User:Barcex as new members of the committee, as well as Oscar Van Dillen and Michael Bimmler as new advisors to the committee.

24 :: New ombudsman commission appointed.
11 :: Organization for the 2007 Steward elections begins at Talk:Stewards/elections 2007.
1 :: Nominations for the English Wikipedia Arbitration Committee begin here today. Nominations close November 30th.

28 :: A proposal has been made for a Wikimedia Macau chapter. Comments are appreciated.
27 :: A new proposal for a wiki called Chains of Reason is up. Please review and comment.
22 :: Fundraising 2007 begins. Many translations needed. Please help.
27-28 :: The first Wiki-Conference in Russia is held in St. Petersburg, Russia
27 :: The second Wikimedia Conferentie Nederland is held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
20 :: The statutory meeting for Wikimedia Sverige is being held in Stockholm, Sweden.
19-20 :: The first Colloque wikipédia is held in Paris, France.
9 :: Alexandria has been chosen as host city for Wikimania 2008.

Goings-on in September 2007

30 :: A proposal for the deletion of the already closed Siberian Wikipedia is up. Please review and comment.
8 :: A proposal has been made for a Wikimedia New York City chapter and the more general development of a Wikimedia United States Chapters Council. Comments are appreciated.
5 :: The Communication Projects Group is re-organizing itself and needs to expand! Membership more easily accessible than it was before, still to anyone interested. If you are interested in project management or graphic design, you would be a very beneficial addition to the group!

Goings-on in August 2007

31 :: A new wiki is up at the Wikimedia Incubator, WikiAds. WikiAds aims to create a free advertisement directory that anyone can edit. The project does not yet have an official meta proposal, but please take a look here!
30 :: A proposal to re-arrange the translations-related pages is up. Please, review and comment.
23 :: The List Summary Service, an inactive summary of activities over several Wikimedia mailing lists, is being revived! If you are interested in helping out please see the related discussion at the Metapub.
20 :: Bidding begins on Wikimania 2008 and Jury is announced.
10 :: A new proposal regarding democracy on wikis is available at Wikicracy. Please review and comment.
3-5 :: Wikimania 2007 takes place, with over 1000 registered participants from 92 countries and regions.

The Polish Wikipedia on DVD has finally been released and is available for purchase in shops in Poland as well as online. The release contains 239 000 articles, 59 000 images and the dedicated Java software WikiMiner. The DVD costs 39 PLN (~ 10 EUR, $14).
Soon the 8 GB image of the DVD will be available for download as well.

31 :: The results for the July 2007 English Wikinews Arbitration Committee election have been announced. IlyaHaykinson, Cspurrier, and Brianmc are the new members of the English Wikinews ArbCom!
25 :: A page describing WikiEarth is up please review and comment.
18 :: Voting for the July 2007 English Wikinews Arbitration Committee election begins.
14 :: The Establishment Ceremony of Wikimedia Hong Kong has been held, now pending approval by the Foundation.
12 :: The results of the 2007 Wikimedia Board Election have been announced. Erik Möller, Kat Walsh and Frieda Brioschi are elected to the Board of Trustees.
11 :: Nominations for the July 2007 English Wikinews Arbitration Committee election begin.
8 :: Wikimedia Board Election: Voting closed. The result tallied by a third party organization is expected to be published around July 15.
5 :: There are two competing proposals at Wikibooks/Logo, one to continue with the current logo selection process, and one to restart the process.
4 :: Wikimedia Taiwan is been approved by the Foundation as one of its local chapters.
1 :: Today is Canada Day, and Wikimedia Canada (a previously dead project) is starting back up and is looking for new members. They are currently writing bylaws, so any legal advice is welcome.

28 :: Wikimedia Board Election accepts votes now. Please go to the wiki you are active and cast the ballot!
27 :: Users are invited to translate the voting interface in their own languages.
26 :: New mailing list specific for Meta affairs: Meta-l
24 :: Endorsements for the Wikimedia Board Election has been closed. Voting will begin on Thursday, 0:00 June 28, 2007 (UTC). Further details will be announced shortly.
17 :: Endorsements for the Wikimedia Board Election are now being accepted.
14 :: A new proposal for Wiki Community College is up, please review and comment.
10 :: Board elections begin. Candidates are now being accepted.

2 :: A new proposal for FireWiki Proposal is up, please review and comment. The site is already up and working and can be visited at www.theFireWiki.org.
1 :: In response to the American non-acceptance of the rule of the shorter term that would affect so many Wikimedia sites, especially Wikimedia Commons, a petition is now alive. All concerned users should sign the accompanying petition at Petitiononline.com.
